Hello all dear friends 😊
So me and my mates decided let’s go check out Duka Bay in Misamis Oriental been meaning to go for ages. We left CDO around 6 in the morning because we wanted to beat traffic and yeah the drive took solid four hours. Packd chips soda and sandwiches so we did not have to stop for food on the way. Road was pretty smooth most of the way only slowed down when we went through towns like Manticao and Medina..
Halfway point we all needed to stretch our legs so we pulled into Gingoog City. You can’t miss that big arch when you come in GINGOOG CITY written huge on it. Parked near a sari sari store used their CR and the lady running it let us sit under her awning because it was getting warm. Snapped some pics by the arch because why not looks cool with all the coconut trees behind it.
Bought ice cold buko juice there too way better than soda. Got back on the road and like twenty minutes later we saw the turn off for Duka Bay. Everyone perked up straight away you could smell the sea already. Paid fifty pesos for parking then walked down the path to the beach. Weather was just right sun was up but there was wind coming off the water so it was not too hot.
Sand was soft and clean did not have all that sharp shell stuff like some beaches do. Water was clear as anything could see little fish swimming around your feet when you waded in. There’s big tres all along the shore so you can sit in the shade if you want they have got wooden benches and chairs set up there too..
We grabbed a spot right near the water and just sat there for a bit looking out at the ocean. They have got those nipa huts there too some people were having birthday parties and stuff under them. We went to the food area and ordered grilled tilapia rice and ensalada.
Cost us like two hundred pesos each not expensive at all and the fish was fresh you could tell. Ate at one of the empty huts just chatting and watching kids play in the sand. Met some other folks while we were there two guys from Cebu who were driving around MisOr.
Plus two girls from Canada who are traveling around the Philippines. We started talking to them because they were looking at our camera asked if we could take their pic. We spoke in English because that’s what we all knew was easy like talking to people from here..
Told them about CDO where to get good lechon at the market how you can go hiking in Malasag and that they should try kinilaw if they have not yet. They showed us pics of their trip to Siargao said the waves there are insane.
Told us they are heading to Camiguin next so we gave them directions on how to get there by bus. We use English all the time when we meet people from out of town or when we post stuff online. It’s just simple everyone gets it no need to make it hard. We just say what we see and what we think.
Stayed till sunset sky went all orange and red water got calm and silver looking. Packed up our bags said see ya to the people we met then got back in the car. Drive home was quiet everyone was tired but happy. Stopped at a carinderia in Villanueva for dinner had sinigang and rice hit the spot after all that driving. Got home around 8 o’clock legs were sore from walking on the sand but we were all buzzing about the trip. Got heaps of pics on our phones gonna show them to our other friends and put some up online so people know how nice Duka Bay is..
