Previously, I had showed you the Hobbit Houses in Mount Kitanglad, Bukidnon, Philippines as well as how we arrived at the location in this article, DIY Trip to Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm. Today, I'd bring you into the land of Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm and what you can do while in this farm.
Aside from being a home to the hobbit houses, this farm offers so much more for their customers and guests.
Agri-Ecological Essense
Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm has not been altered, it has been constructed as a medium for those who love nature and the wild photographers. Being a farm which is located at the foot of Mt. Kitanglad, the area provides a great home to wild birds and animals.
The owner's aim was always to educate the community and the guests as well of their Agri-Ecological technologies. This allowed the farm to earn several awards such as Champion in Provincial Tourism Destination "Agro Eco Categoty" and Most Outstanding Farm in the Philippines by Gawad Saka 2006.
As a farm, workers are here every single day to maintain the land. These people are all locals of the barangay Imbayao. The owner himself is actually their captain.
This photo above was what welcomed upon arrival at Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm.
There's a huge wooden frame for all guests to take photos of as a remembrance of getting to this agro eco farm. The frame was made huge to make sure it can cater a huge number of groups.
Products : Coffee
As a farm,it has its own way of sustainability efforts. The workers here have a lot of work to do. One of which is the manual production of ground coffee.
We spotted this lady manually pounding and grinding the roasted Arabica coffee beans. The beans are harvested by other workers from the land and there are several coffee trees around. We even found some which has fruits still green which means they were not yet ready for harvest.
Every single day, workers roast coffee beans and are also being pounded on the same day. They are packed for sale but for the guests, they make fresh brew for free! Even those who are just walk in visitors can also have a cup of hot coffee!
Well, if you are at the farm, you'd definitely want a hot coffee because its cold over there!
This one above was the result of multiple pounding! I adore the strength of that lady! She was even smiling at us while we were taking photos of her but I asked her to don't mind us and just continue doing what she was doing. I like candid shots.
My husband James and I found these beans and thought it would look good for a photo!
And that's our free newly brewed hot Arabica coffee! I am not always a coffee lover, sometimes I dislike certain flavors but this one was like a sweet drink to my throat. Perhaps it was due to the weather!
Products: Citronella Oil
I wished I had taken photos of the workers and the citronella oil product but unfortunately, I wasn't able to do it. I am glad I was able to find the above photo of the citronella leaves being airdried.
In a farm like this, it is also automatic that there are bugs and insects here and there. Citronella oil was a solution. The farm provides free citronella oils for their guests so we could get the bugs away! True enough, it was effective and I didn't have any bites at all even after sleeping inside the hobbit house overnight!
Other things to find here are fruits of course. Being a farm means having many fruit-bearing trees. These guavas were given for free to all guests and visitors. I was glad to eat few pieces and they were truly sweet and very good!
I realized I have not eaten a good guava for the longest time!
Nature and Flowers
Another thing to expect in Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm is their abundance of flowers. Most of these flowers were just planted randomly throughout the farm. Although we were not able to really explore the corners of this huge farm, we were able to enjoy the presence of these flowers from different areas.
Here below, my husband took a few photo of me with these flowers.
Sunrise View
What else can we find at Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm? Well, to close this post, I'd like to share that I had a lot of fun riding this infinity swing early morning when the sun was just right in front of us peaking from the horizon and flying up to the sky with its good radiance.
There's something about sunrise and I vouch that you won't regret waking up early while on the farm because this sunrise view won't disappoint at all. Thankfully, my husband was able to capture this on camera and I am able to share with you all this image.
Thank you for reading! I hope you will add this to your travel bucket list too!
