Hi Hive Lovers
"When we have the opportunity to visit a new place, we always get a new experience".
This was my first time visiting the Lake Lut Tawar tourist area in the Gayo Highlands, Central Aceh, Aceh Province for a training event related to my job. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to explore the beauty of this place. I can only enjoy the west side of the lake from the Grand Renggali Hotel where I stay. After the event, I had to return to my office immediately to complete some other tasks that were approaching the completion time limit.
The lake is surrounded by hills. One of the hills that attracts attention the most is a grass hill that has never been overgrown with trees, according to the story of the hotel clerk who is a local native, the hill is a rock hill, so only grass can grow on it.
I only got a little information from the hotel clerk about this lake. The lake has an area of 70 km², with a surface elevation of 1100 m and a depth of 260 ft. This lake is the main source of clean water and a source of livelihood for the people here, there are many freshwater fish cages around the edge of the lake and many fishermen catch fish typical of freshwater lakes, either by using fishing nets or fishing. Fish results are still very abundant here.
This lake has very clear water and is also a source of water for the Peusangan River, one of the largest and longest rivers in Aceh, it passes through 3 districts in Aceh. The river also has a large water dam which is a hydroelectric power plant area. The water discharge of this lake is always stable, so it has never experienced a drought even though the long dry season hit.
One thing I really admired was when I learned about the customary law of the people around the lake, namely the prohibition against using poison or fish bombs to get fish here. These customary laws have formed their own mindset and awareness to always protect the lake ecosystem. It has managed to maintain their livelihood from generation to generation.
Here are some photos I took in a short time. Hope you all like it;
I hope that one day I will come back here to circle this lake using the engine boat provided by the tenants there. I also intend to bring my fishing gear to feel the sensation of the lake fish which are notorious for preying on fishing bait.
It's sure to be a lot of fun!
