Situated on Mount Eliza in Perth, Kings Park is the most popular tourist destination in Western Australia. It's a beautiful 400.6 hectare (990 acre) inner city park known for many things such as Aboriginal and European history, and the Western Australia Botanic Garden.
The park has three tree-lined avenues planted with eucalyptus trees honouring service personnel who died in the world wars.
This avenue was lined with 90 year old eucalyptus called 'ghost gums.'
A closeup of the trunk almost resembles concrete!
The park has many types of trees while the Botanic garden has over 3,000 species of Western Australia's unique flora. Another 2/3 of the park is protected as bushland where there are walking trails.
Kings Park has more memorials, statues and honour avenues than in any other Australian park.
Visitors enjoy sweeping views of Perth's central business district, the shoreline and two rivers.

5 million visitors arrive each year, often by the busload.
August 10, 1895 was the official opening date.
The State War Memorial Precinct consists of the Cenotaph, Court of Contemplation, Flame of Remembrance and Pool of Reflection.
