Yesterday I visited a lovely place in South Crete.
Kokkinos Pyrgos!
It has a huge beach and a small port where many boats and small ships start their trip from.

Kokkinos Pyrgos is a picturesque coastal village located on the southern coast of the Greek island of Crete. You will find many cafeterias & taverns along the shore.
Κόκκινος Πύργος (Red Tower its translation in Greek) is situated approximately 67 kilometers southwest of the capital city, Heraklion.
In this post, you will also see some images of restored classical BMW motorcycles :) I hope you will enjoy them!
At first, we visited the small port.
We saw cormorants and beautiful reflections of the houses & clouds on the blue waters.
One of the main attractions of this area is its long sandy beach. In the summer, this long beach is full of parasols and sun beds, and as I learned they are offered free of charge for everyone!
Many locals also visit this place, so if you plan to come, its better to come early in the morning.
The views to the Libyan Sea are stunning, and if you look far far away, you will see the outline of Gavdos island (which is the south end of Europe)
What I find really beautiful, is the color of the sea. South Crete is different from North Crete (the place where I live in), so it is a delight for me!
I enjoyed a lot the cloud formations, especially in the photos that combine green nature.
Almost all the cafeterias come with a view :)
The beach has some spots that are with small pebbles and some other parts that come with light sand, so if you visit in the summertime, you can choose if you wish to snorkel or to swim :)
Right next to the spot that I was (but I discovered it when we were on our way back), is a small salt lake called Katalyki, where flamingos and other animals visit often.

This has been added in my to-do list, for next time :)
I hope you enjoyed my post, and that you will soon have the opportunity to travel to your favorite places!
