On the ground floor of the National Museum in Warsaw, you can see interesting exhibits at the Gallery of Ancient Art. The first ancient country whose culture we can get to know better there is Egypt. I have always been fascinated by this exotic world of pyramids, mummies and pharaohs. Whenever I am at the exhibition, where I can see huge Egyptian sarcophagi live, I am always delighted with the ingenuity of their creators.
Na parterze w Muzeum Narodowym w Warszawie można obejrzeć ciekawe eksponaty w Galerii Sztuki Starożytnej. Pierwszym starożytnym państwem, którego kulturę możemy tam lepiej poznać jest Egipt. Zawsze fascynował mnie ten egzotyczny świat piramid, mumii, faraonów i ilekroć jestem na wystawie, gdzie mogę zobaczyć na żywo ogromne egipskie sarkofagi, zawsze zachwyca mnie pomysłowość ich twórców.
A Ukrainian flag was hung at the entrance to the museum as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Refugees from Ukraine have free admission to the National Museum in Warsaw, and Ukrainian audio guides and headphones are available for them, which you can take with you. I have read that there are also classes for children from Ukraine and film screenings shown in their mother tongue. A very nice initiative which, according to the organizers, may allow "to find respite from the terrible events of the last days."

Przy wejściu do muzeum zawieszono ukraińską flagę na znak solidarności z narodem ukraińskim. Do Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie uchodźcy z Ukrainy mają bezpłatny wstęp, są też dla nich dostępne audioprzewodniki po ukraińsku i słuchawki, które można ze sobą zabrać. Czytałam, że są też prowadzone zajęcia dla dzieci z Ukrainy oraz pokazy filmów, w ich ojczystym języku. For me, going to a museum is usually an opportunity to spend a moment as if in a different world. In the photo below you can see Anubis - the god of the dead and the patron of mummification. This dog reminded me strongly of the sacred foxes from the Fushimi Inari-Taisha temple in Kyoto. He looked like a strong and formidable animal, a protector better not to mess with.
Dla mnie wyjścia do muzeum są przeważnie okazją do pobycia przez chwilę w innym świecie. Na zdjęciu poniżej możecie zobaczyć Anubisa - boga zmarłych oraz patrona mumifikacji. Ten szakal przypominał mi mocno z wyglądu święte lisy ze świątyni Fushimi Inari-Taisha w Kioto. Wyglądał na silne i groźne zwierzę, obrońcę, z którym lepiej nie zadzierać.
In the museum room, which was guarded by the Egyptian god in the form of a jackal, there were numerous sarcophagi, mummy masks and canopic urns, i.e. stone or ceramic vessels in which the embalmed internal parts of the deceased's body were kept.
W muzealnym pomieszczeniu, którego strzegł egipski bóg w postaci szakala znajdowały się liczne sarkofagi, maski mumiowe i urny kanopskie, czyli kamienne lub ceramiczne naczynia w których przechowywano zabalsamowane wnętrzności zmarłej osoby.
The drawings on the sarcophagi and the detail painted on them look amazing.
Niesamowicie wyglądają rysunki na sarkofagach i to jak szczegółowo je pomalowano.
I was also interested in mummies and animal sarcophagi. Below you can see a few of them, the largest such exhibit is a cat. Such a mummified pet was usually buried with the owner. Nowadays, animals are often like family members, so I like this unusual habit.
Zaciekawiły mnie również mumie i sarkofagi zwierząt. Poniżej możecie zobaczyć ich kilka, największy taki eksponat to kot. Takie zwierzę domowe poddane mumifikacji było zazwyczaj pochowane razem z właścicielem. W obecnych czasach zwierzęta są często jak członkowie rodziny, więc podoba mi się ten nietypowy zwyczaj.
These are bas-reliefs with hieroglyphs (Egyptian script) and drawings of deities.

I also liked the sculptures of Egyptian gods with animal heads. There are several display cases with them in the museum. A lot to see.
Bardzo Mi się podobały też rzeźby egipskich bogów o zwierzęcych głowach. W muzeum jest kilka gablot z nimi. Sporo do zobaczenia.
