Zachęta is a contemporary art gallery located in Warsaw at 3 Stanisław Małachowski Square. You can see various interesting exhibitions here, some of them are controversial. I like to visit this gallery, I did it regularly before the pandemic. Works by Norwegian artist Hege Lønne are currently exhibited there. These are sculptures, artistic installations, animations and photos presenting her artistic activities.
Zachęta to galeria sztuki współczesnej, która znajduje się w Warszawie na placu Stanisława Małachowskiego 3. Można tu obejrzeć różne ciekawe wystawy, niektóre są kontrowersyjne. Lubię zaglądać do tej galerii, przed pandemią robiłam to regularnie. Obecnie wystawiane są tam prace norweskiej artystki Hege Lønne. Można zobaczyć rzeźby, instalacje artystyczne, animacje oraz zdjęcia przedstawiające jej działania artystyczne.
I really like the historic building of Zachęta. It is engraved with the Latin motto "Artibus", which means "Fine Arts".
The edifice of the building refers to the Italian Renaissance and Classicism. It was modeled on the Palazzo dell Esposizzione in Rome. The main facade is particularly decorative, with rich sculptural decorations by Sigismund Otto in the tympanum of the massive portico.

Bardzo mi się podoba zabytkowy budynek Zachęty. Widać na nim wygrawerowane łacińskie motto "Artibus", które oznacza "Sztukom pięknym".
Gmach budynku nawiązuje do renesansu włoskiego i klasycyzmu. Wzorowany był na Palazzo dell Esposizzione w Rzymie. Szczególną dekoracyjnością odznacza się fasada główna z bogatą dekoracją rzeźbiarską Zygmunta Otto w tympanonie masywnego portyku.

The gallery door opens automatically. It is very convenient because they are massive and it is difficult to open them on your own. Inside, you can admire beautiful, elegant interiors.
The interior was designed for exhibition purposes with a glass-fronted courtyard surrounded by multi-storey cloisters. The representative staircase has white marble stairs and wrought iron balustrades topped with cast-iron images of dragons.

Drzwi do galerii otwierają się automatycznie. To bardzo wygodne, bo są masywne i ciężko by się je samodzielnie otwierało. W środku można podziwiać piękne, eleganckie wnętrza.
Wnętrze zostało zaprojektowane do celów wystawowych z przeszklonym u góry dziedzińcem otoczonym piętrowymi krużgankami. Reprezentacyjna klatka schodowa ma schody z białego marmuru i kute balustrady zakończone żeliwnymi wyobrażeniami smoków.

Now let me tell you a little bit about the exhibition I saw. When I entered the first, large exhibition hall, I saw a lot of strange sculptures with simple shapes. They were white sculptures depicting various basic shapes - e.g. oval, semi-oval or rectangular. Often the shapes have been linked to each other, e.g. oval and rectangular. Many of the sculptures resembled nature, for example, such as boulders or fragments of hilly terrain. They were made of plaster and had no names.
A teraz opowiem wam trochę o wystawie, którą obejrzałam. Gdy weszłam do pierwszej, dużej sali wystawowej zobaczyłam dużo dziwnych rzeźb, o prostych kształtach. Były to białe rzeźby przedstawiające różne podstawowe ksztaty - np. owalne, półowalne lub prostokątne. Często kształty były połączone ze sobą, np. owalny z prostokątnymi. Wiele z rzeźb przypominało naturę, np. takie jakby głazy, albo fragmenty pagórkowatej rzeźby terenu. Zostały zrobione z gipsu i nie miały nazw.
It looked unusual with this lack of names. Because usually next to sculptures or pictures there is a small plaque with the name of the sculpture or picture, the name and surname or pseudonym of the author and sometimes also some short additional information. These sculptures had five times written "Untitled, 2010, GPS, own technique".
Z tym brakiem nazw wyglądało to nietypowo. Bo zazwyczaj przy rzeźbach lub obrazach znajduje się mała plakietka z nazwą rzeźby lub obrazu, imieniem i nazwiskiem bądź pseudonimem autora i czasami również jakąś krótką dodatkową informacją. Przy tych rzeźbach było napisane pięć razy "Bez tytułu, 2010, gps, technika własna".
On the other hand, there were pictures on the walls with different views, often showing fragments of the forest. Some showed interesting frames, and others had artistic installations, as in the photo below, where in the bosom of nature there were large letters forming the words "Stay".
Za to na ścianach wisiały zdjęcia z różnymi widokami, często przedstawiające fragmenty lasu. Na niektórych było widać ciekawe kadry, a na innych instalacje artystyczne, tak jak na zdjęciu poniżej, gdzie na łonie przyrody ustawiono duże litery tworzące napis "Stay", czyli "Zostać".
At the entrance to the exhibition, you could read its description on the wall, and this is what it says about the part of the exhibition that I show in this post: "the central part of the exhibition are sculptures created after 2000, created with the original method of working with plaster, which over time began to be accompanied by works video. Synthetically treated landscapes are an expression of the artist's interest in geological processes, natural resources, and the power of nature in relation to man - this element of a complex system of planets, whose interferences increasingly leave their mark on it. "
Przy wejściu na wystawę, na ścianie można było przeczytać jej opis, a tak napisano o części wystawy, którą pokazuję w tym poście: "centralną część wystawy stanowią rzeźby powstałe po roku 2000, tworzone autorską metodą pracy z gipsem, którym z czasem zaczęły towarzyszyć prace wideo. Syntetycznie potraktowane krajobrazy są wyrazem zainteresowania artystki procesami geologicznymi, zasobami naturalnymi, siłą natury w relacji z człowiekiem - tym elementem złożonego układu planet, którego ingerencje coraz silniej odciskają na niej swój ślad."

Z jednej strony wykonane z gipsu rzeźby, a tu nagle - śpiwór, który jest elementem wystawy. Sztuka nowoczesna potrafi zaskakiwać.
