Blessed day fellow travelers and adventurers of Haveyoubeenhere, I hope you are well, for me it is a pleasure to greet you once again.
In this opportunity I would like to share with you some pictures of one of my walks to the parks of the city of Lima.
This city is characterized by having many parks and outdoor recreational places so before the pandemic it was inevitable to want to go out and spend time in one of these beautiful places.
Generally we used to go for a walk every Sunday, some places are a little distant from our place of residence, so we had to leave very early in order to make the most of the walk. One of those Sundays we went to visit a place called "Parque La Amistad" located in the Surco District south of the city.
The Friendship Park is an ideal outdoor place to spend a nice afternoon with the family. Admission is free and it is open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The first thing that catches the attention of this park is the huge mosaic arch at the entrance. According to the information I could read on the web, this arch was a gift from Spain to the city of Lima in 1924. The arch is emblematic and represents the friendship between the two nations.
It is a very impressive arch, both for its size and for the art it shows, it is impossible not to want to take pictures and take a nice souvenir.
My favorite attraction of the park was the train station, since I love old trains. This train station is typical of the Peruvian highlands and has a steam locomotive from 1926. In a three-car locomotive you can take a ride on the tracks that are located on the park grounds. The train ride operates only from Thursday through Sunday and the ticket is approximately $1.5.
The next activity and my children's favorite was the pedal boat ride. The park has an artificial lagoon that adorns the place and in it they offer pedal boat rides, there are also some animals like turtles, ducks and swans. The ticket for this ride costs 1$ and the ride lasts 10 minutes, in which my kids had a lot of fun pedaling all over the lagoon while I watched them and took many pictures.
Inside the park there is also a museum called "Museo de la respuesta" which you must enter accompanied by a guide. Another interesting attraction is the food court where you can taste typical Peruvian dishes and some international food. What I enjoyed the most of this outing was walking through the green areas of the park and enjoying nature, I hope to return soon.
