What is the paradise island of Madeira?
The paradise island of Madeira, located in the Atlantic Ocean, is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful places on earth. Transparent lakes with warm water, clean pebble beaches, magnificent greenery, comfortable weather, sun and a variety of flora and fauna are waiting for tourists here all year round. This is a unique natural botanical garden, which has no analogues in the whole world.
The affordable price of a holiday in Madeira is another weighty argument in favor of visiting it.
Madeira's favorable weather and its magnificent landscapes traditionally attract people from all over the world. The south coast is the calmest here, protected from the winds, and the most diverse landscapes you will find on the north shore of the island is an amazing conglomerate of expressive rocks, picturesque bays and forests.
This will be the first review and acquaintance with the island!
About this island, you can't tell everything in one article.

A trip to the beautiful Madeira is not a quick thing, but it's worth it. A visit to the blooming island is a traditional component of tours to Portugal.
The island got its name due to the dense forests (the word "Madeira" means "forest", "wood", "island of forests").
Nature and climate of Madeira:
However, not only wine, but the unique nature and comfortable weather of Madeira make the island so attractive for tourists. The island is of volcanic origin, its age ranges from 5-6 million years. The formation of the island, which is part of the African lithospheric plate, took place in several stages. The first volcanic eruptions formed the basis of the island, and further ones created its relief. The last magma emissions on the island date back to a period of about 6.5 thousand years ago.
The flora of Madeira is truly unique, thanks to the presence of ancient and rare plant species. It is here that the pre-Glacial forests with relict trees are located. Today they are part of the UNESCO heritage. There are 4 species of laurel alone growing here! Not to mention a variety of shrubs, lichens, mosses, which collectively cover two-thirds of the island. Banana plantations, mango and avocado grow on the coast. There are a lot of orchids on the island, and this is only a small fraction of the local flower paradise – there are more than 2000 types of flowers on the island! No wonder the island of Madeira is often called the "floating garden".
The sea coast of Madeira is a real museum of wildlife – there are only more than 500 species of fish here. There are also a variety of mollusks, turtles, sea lions and dolphins, so educational tours along the Atlantic coast have become the hallmark of the island. Laurisilva is home to many birds and bats, one of the famous local species is the Madeira pigeon.
There are a lot of natural parks on the island of Madeira. The most significant of them are the Keimodas Forest Park - it is just surrounded by the Laurissilva forest, the Ribeiro Frio Forest Park, famous for its picturesque trails, an Ecological Park located in the mountains north of Funchal – the capital of the island, near Pico de Areiro, as well as Garahau – an underwater paradise for diving enthusiasts.
I think this is enough to understand whether you should visit this island or not!
