Bitou Cape or Bitoujiao 鼻頭角 is one of the 3 capes located in the north of Taiwan. The other two are Sandiaojiao and Fugui Cape. Bitoujiao, in my opinion is the most popular cape among the three thanks to its instagrammable trail and lighthouse nestled at the tip of the cape. Not to mention how easy it is to get here from Taipei and the trail itself. It is located at the Ruifang District in New Taipei City.
Last weekend I was invited by a friend on mine to go for scuba diving at Longdong just near by the Bitou Cape. And because it has been some time since I climbed a mountain and I also miss flying my drone, so I took the opportunity to visit Bitou Cape before going for scuba diving.
Coastal Road Trip
I usually commute or rent a motorcycle when I travel alone to places near Taipei. But this time, because we are a group and we are carying diving stuff we took the convenience of renting a car.
I really enjoyed being at the back seat with this beautiful view of the coastal road in the morning.
Going to Bitou Cape is just an hour of driving by car from Taipei. While 2 hours when riding the train or bus.
Bitou Cape Trail
The trail start in front of an elementary school with a cemetery just beside it. I can imagine how cool is it to study here, seeing the beautiful view of the cape everyday. I'd be staring at the ocean the whole day if I am a student here.
While I'm not really surprised about the cemetery being here as this place is just few kilometers away from Jiufen , a place with a larger cemetery.
This is a very easy yet rewarding trail. It is a 3.5km loop trail. The whole trail is paved with tiles and stairs. Along the trail, you'll find few resting huts and a toilet.
Trail Finds
I did not researched about this place that much, I only knew about it from instagram posts. So I wasn't really expecting too much from it and I think it is a funnier experience to discover a place without being spoiled about it beforehand.
At the first km of the trail I found myself "healed" when the trail revealed this breathe taking view of the ocean. Nature is healing, isn't it?
As I continue walking, I found this cool fruit. I don't know what is it but it looks like the Mera Mera no Mi devil fruit in One Piece haha!
What surprised me more is finding a cafe along the trail. A comouflage painted cafe. Oh well, trails in Taiwan were built differently. It is so good!
Bitou Cape
I arrived at the peak in just 20 mins. It is here in the circular platform where it reveals the panoramic view of the ocean and the small fishing town on the otherside.
Here I started to do the most exciting part, flying my drone! Eyyy! 🤙🏻
The hut in the picture is the end of the trail. It is nestled on top of the cliff. With a bird's eye view from my drone, it reveals a cliff covered by green grass and a crystal clear water.
It made me excited to dive.
To be honest, if I did not flew my drone I would not know that there is a lighthouse here. I become so excited after seeing it from my drone.
It is my first time flying my drone to film a lighthouse. It is so beautiful!
Unfortunately, I don't have too much time to visit it as my friends are waiting for me so we can start diving 😅. So I just made sure to film it with my drone.
I'm saving the lighthouse in my list of my next destinations 🙂
