Hi Hiver friends,
Do you have any plans for this weekend? I would like to introduce to you a small corner of Hoi An that is very suitable for the weekend - CHIC CHILLAX Coffee.
Unlike the hectic bustle of the old town, Hoi An has its own little corner, close to nature, surrounded by the fragrant green of rice fields, the sound of frogs, the cool wind blowing day and night, bringing the salty taste of the sea. The coffee shop was opened a few months ago, wild style, close to nature. The building materials are all wood, the owner is a carpenter. From his passion for recycling and using wood samples, wood chips, for a long time, he and his friends built a coffee shop with a very personal style.
The trees in there were a few he bought for planting, and the rest was to grow and take care of it by himself.
Last spring the flowers bloomed brightly, brightening up the small shop space. Building on a very special terrain, surrounded by rice fields, the owner has rented this land of the local people, everyone's crops are not affected. The cooperation is mutually beneficial because people still grow in normal times, and the coffee, thanks to which, should have this wonderful view. Guests come here partly to take pictures, save beautiful moments when coming to Hoi An, partly to enjoy the fresh and tranquil air in the middle of this vast sky.
From outside the entrance gate, there is the display space of block 1 (on the right-hand side of the welcome gate). A remake of an ancient stall, with farm supplies, and the cookery of the people a long time ago. Bringing a sense of intimacy to people born of the hard times of a country like ours.
Next up are the upstairs and ground floor areas that serve coffee. Tables and chairs and furniture are cleaned, especially, here away from the main road, so there is almost no smoke from public transport. The space of the bar is very large, including many blocks, to serve the group also. Drinking water here is quite fresh, the price ranges from 40.000 to 60.000 VND, on the evening of weekdays, there will be live show music, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.
I was born and raised in a small village, and since I was a child, I've seen the hard work of farmers like my parents. Working all year round, but the product is only enough to eat, little leftovers are sold, the proceeds are not enough to cover the next season. But they still have to do it from day to day, because it is the only thing that can bring things for living in the common difficult period.
Now life changes a lot, people's lives are raised, my hometown no longer makes much rice, or if they do, it only does it to eat, and send it to their children in the city. The abandoned fields, the storks that fly without a stop, are all part of the memory of how many children grew up in the countryside like us.
But anyway, rice cultivation is already a part of Vietnamese culture, and it's also the spearhead of the country. Rice is the main food plant associated with people for ages. There is no denying its economic value to every farmer in particular as well as to state agriculture in general.
Pure beauty, rustic but also very noble, so the poetry of rice trees have appeared in many works of art of all kinds. The rice civilization has been around for a long time. It first appeared in Southeast Asia and was called the ancient civilization. When it comes to civilization, we immediately think of the remarkable progress and with the rice civilization, it is the development of rice cultivation techniques, irrigation,...reaching a high level of products for a densely populated community.
Looking back at the movement of rice in the country, we can see that rice is initially present in Southeast Asian countries, then they start spreading to the north. Many hypotheses have been made around the origin of rice, and so far many experts have mentioned this problem, but the data is uncertain and not consistent. Rice field today is everywhere, and it becomes familiar and associated with people, especially in countries with large areas of agricultural land.
The products of rice plants are made to directly serve the daily life of people, rice plants are very close and indispensable. In Southeast Asian countries, or Vietnam in more detail, thanks to the topographic area affected by monsoon, it is very suitable for the cultivation and development of Vietnam rice civilization.
The climate in Vietnam is mild, there are not many types of extreme weather, so the work of making rice is not affected. Many farming activities have always been maintained steadily and increasingly for high production capacity thanks to the application of scientific advances. The environment is an important factor that helps the rice to grow quickly, whether rice is productive or not is due to environmental factors. The polluted environment is the common problem of the world, the difficult problem between both industrial development and protecting the environment still has no final.
Particularly in Vietnam, the environment in large cities is also a problem of many departments, but in rural areas, pollution has also appeared but its impact has not been too great, so it does not directly affect the development of rice crops. In addition to factors such as the environment, topography, natural conditions,..factors such as temperature, farming techniques, fertilizer, also have a great impact on the yield of rice crops.
Rice varieties are classified according to their shape and structure. In addition to the boring rice varieties, Vietnam's rice civilization also has many famous folded rice varieties. As rice later became the main food in the meals and was widely grown throughout the country, the division of different regions and geographies created different types of typical rice. This difference also creates different flavors of rice, so Vietnam rice civilization adds a much more diverse and special part.
Vietnam's rice-water civilization since the earliest times, people have created tools suitable for producing and exploiting rice-water crops that are still used today such as hoe, sickle, mill,... However, in the pace of life of the industrial age, some stages in the rice production process have been supported by machinery.
Today it is not necessary to cultivate rice, instead, there are rice cultivators, harvesters help farmers to harvest, not use sickles to reap as before. Inside the Chinese rice, seeds are white, pure tinctures. Finally, the period of cotton harvesting and cultivation. This is the highest stage of paddy, about 90-105cm, hard trunk.
Every rice plant gives a flower, every seed a flower. In the flowering period, rice preserves each petal, fragrances, and pollinates each other by the wind. About a week later, the rice is ripe.
The heavy, golden rice flowers blooming in the sun make the countryside become beautiful and shimmering like gold. At that time, the rice was ready to be cut and brought back by humans.
In order to plant white rice seeds, fragrant plastic, farmers always have to use a lot of sunshine, two mist, not afraid to be hard and meticulous at each stage: From selecting rice to meet the standards, high productivity, resistance to pests, and diseases, preparing soil: Clearing grass, aerating mud until sowing, fertilizing, managing and adjusting the amount of water to suit each stage of rice development, preventing weeds and pests.
When the rice is in bloom and the harvest is over, people go out to the fields to cut the grain, dry, and rub the rice. It was simple at that stage, but it took a lot of time and effort.
Now sit here and watch the green rice trees, how many childhood memories come back to me. Sit back and watch the gentle movements of space and time, I appreciate more the beauty of life.
Thanks for looking, have a great weekend!
