These are the kind of parking spots I truly love!
With views like this, I always stop whenever I can, even if it’s just for a short break. And that was the case this time. A just usuall 45min pause on the road near Castro-Urdiales, on the northern coast of Spain.
Some places don’t need much time. You open the truck door, look around and everything slows down on its own. Cliffs, calm Atlantic water, space and silence — the kind you feel more than you hear.
But let’s be honest, there is something I need to admit - leaving this parking spot is not easy at all. The road goes steeply uphill and for a 40 ton truck without momentum, that’s a real challenge! And then of course downhill. It’s not just “drive and go” — it’s patience, timing and a bit of respect for gravity. You have to think twice before you move.
And still… I keep coming back here.
Because some places are simply worth it. Every demanding meter uphill, every moment of tension behind the wheel. The views reward everything.
This is not a tourist parking spot from a brochure.
This is a parking spot from real life on the road. The kind that stays in your mind much longer than many famous viewpoints.
And here is the view from one side of the parking area:
And if you walk a few dozen meters further, this is the view that opens up before your eyes:
