𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰...?
Mantayupan Falls is one of Cebu's stunning natural wonders. It is also known as "Ambakan Falls" by locals.
A long time ago, the place is a secluded area within the forest of Barili. Rumors said that there was a huge octopus-like creature named "Mantaga" residing the falls. The locals were afraid of this creature due to the hearsay that the "Mantaga" will drown those who wander the falls.
This remains a mystery among the Cebuanos which attracts more tourists to wander the place.
As time passed by, Mantayupan Falls was developed and served as the source of renewable energy by the locals.
In the present era, it became one of the famous tourist spot in Southern Cebu due to its astonishing milky-green-colored pool. It is also known as the tallest waterfall in Southern Cebu.

There are two ways to get there: Private Car or Public Bus.
In our lakwatsa, we got there through private car. We consumed a fuel worth around 1000 PHP (20$), vice- versa. Our main rendezvous was at Gaisano Mambaling which is located around central Cebu. Our group of friends gathered there first and traveled together on the way to Mantayupan Falls.
Upon arriving the destination, the caretakers will ask 40PHP(0.79$) entrance fee for adults and 20PHP (0.40$) for kids. We also paid 20PHP(0.40$) for the parking fee. They implemented a new protocol that all tourist must wear a life vest. They have available life vest for rent worth 50PHP(1$). They also have foods available in the staff counter near the entrance where you can grab a snack before you enter and start to venture the spot.

Before you can see the wonders of Mantayupan Falls, you have to hike for more or less than 3 minutes. In the middle of the hike, you still have to cross a sight to behold- the newly built hanging bridge which is 98 meters above from the river flow.
In my experienced, I was terrified since one of my companions was trying to tease me by hopping around the wooden bridge, causing the bridge to shake. It didn't bother me because I knew that it will be worthwhile in the end.

The tourist spot is a bit stricter now than before since it is pandemic. There are staffs watching out for visitors who are not following the safety protocols, especially those who are not wearing life vest. They also have available tables and chairs for rent; a table with 5 seaters cost 200PHP(4$).
In our case, we bought ready to eat foods like, Lechon Manok (fried chicken), Puso (hanging rice), Lumpia (Spring rolls), Pansit Bihon (Pasta) and some sodas. We brought grilling tools and charcoal since we still have to grill the fish and pork. We enjoyed eating while looking at the beautiful landscape.
Of course, this trip won't be complete without LIQUORS, CHIKAS(topic to talk to) & FRIENDS!
This is also a good place to enjoy nature while vibin' with your friends. In our case, we stayed where the stream flows since while drinking liquors, our body feels warm. The cold water from the stream neutralizes our body temperature.
I can say that we really spend less on this trip since we split up the money spent. Our only expense was the entrance fee, parking fee, gasoline & table set. The foods were sponsored by my friend's family. So Tihik, right? Kidding aside, the whole journey was really worth it.
Again, You don't have to worry if you were not able to bring something to eat because they also sell foods at the main entrance.
Overall, it was a nice journey and a nice place to disconnect to reconnect.
Reconnect to life to coexist with nature.
