The days that my friends and I decided to spend at the Mar del Plata beaches were blessed with beautiful weather: despite the fact that it was already the end of February, the temperatures were still high enough to be in the sun and get into the sea for a bit. On our half rest-half work trip, we had two completely free days before starting our weekly routine, so we took advantage of them to go to the most distant beaches we wanted to visit. One of them was Playa de.Los Acantilados, a different landscape among the traditional ones that can be found in this area. The orange stones of the cliff in combination with the ideal weather gave us a very pleasant afternoon ❤️.
Los días que mis amigas y yo decidimos pasar en las playas de Mar del Plata fueron bendecidos con un clima hermoso: a pesar de que ya era el fin de febrero, las temperaturas todavía se mantenían lo suficientemente altas como para estar en el sol y meterse un poco al mar. En nuestro viaje mitad descanso, mitad trabajo, teníamos dos días completamente libres antes de empezar con la rutina semanal, así que los aprovechamos para ir a las playas más lejanas que queríamos visitar. Una de ellas era la Playa de Los Acantilados, un paisaje diferente entre lo tradicional que puede encontrarse por esta zona. Las piedras anaranjadas del acantilado en combinación con el clima ideal nos regalaron una tarde muy agradable ❤️.
The cliff of Mar del Plata on the coast of Buenos Aires is one of the places that you cannot miss if you are vacationing in this area. Only 17 km from the center, you can access this beach by public transport or, of course, by private vehicle. The city of Mar del Plata recently incorporated the transfer service through the 'Cabify' app, so you can also ask for a car to take you there. Luckily for us, those days I had a bank promotion in which all trips cost me half the price, so a trip there only cost us 1200 ARS (3.5 USD approx). This price was almost similar to what we would have spent if we went by public transport, but with the advantage of being comfortable and chatting with the driver 😅.
El acantilado de Mar del Plata en la costa de Buenos Aires es uno de los lugares que no podés perderte si estás vacacionando por esta zona. Tan solo a 17 km del centro, se puede acceder hasta esta playa en transporte público o por supuesto, en vehículo particular. Recientemente la ciudad de Mar del Plata incorporó el servicio de traslados mediante app 'Cabify', por lo que también podés pedirte un auto que te lleve hasta allá. Para nuestra suerte, esos días yo tenía una promoción bancaria en la que todos los viajes me costaban la mitad de precio, por lo que un viaje hasta allá solo nos costó 1200 ARS (3.5 USD aprox). Este precio era casi similar a lo que hubiésemos gastado si íbamos en transporte público, pero con la ventaja de ir cómodas y charlando con el conductor 😅.
It was Sunday and the beach was quite windy and crowded. The good thing about the cliff is that you don't need to bring an umbrella: if you want to protect yourself a bit from the sun, just move a little closer to the rocks and that's it. Our plan was to go there for lunch and make the most of the sun hours, so we prepared some sandwiches and left quickly. As in most of my trips, this was no exception and I overdosed on cold cuts, the easy and cheap ally to save the day 😃.
Era domingo y la playa estaba bastante ventosa y concurrida. Lo bueno que tiene el acantilado es que no hace falta llevar sombrilla: si querés protegerte un poco del sol solo basta con acercarte un poco más hacia las rocas y eso es todo. Nuestro plan fue ir allá a almorzar y aprovechar la mayor cantidad de horas de sol, por lo que preparamos unos sánguches y nos fuimos rápido. Al igual que en la mayoría de mis viajes, este no fue la excepción y tuve una sobredosis de fiambre, el aliado fácil y económico para salvar el día 😃.
To access the beach on the cliff there are two options: the first and easiest is by going down the stairs. This staircase is quite steep: keep in mind that the difference in level is more than 20 meters, so going down is easy but then you have to make the effort to go up. The other option is about 500 meters ahead and it is through a corridor that makes its way into the land of the cliff. To get the full experience, it's best to go down the stairs and up the hallway 😃.
Para acceder a la playa del acantilado hay dos opciones: la primera y más sencilla es por la bajada de la escalera. Esta escalera es bastante empinada: hay que tener en cuenta que el desnivel es de más de 20 metros, por lo que bajar es fácil pero después hay que hacer el esfuerzo de subir. La otra opción queda unos 500 metros más adelante y es por un pasillo que se abre paso en la tierra del acantilado. Para tener la experiencia completa, lo mejor es bajar por la escalera y subir por el pasillo 😃.
Passing through this part you take in the true dimension of the great wall of earth around it. Going back up this path is easier because the climb is quite gentle: the only thing is that you have to be careful not to get too close to the walls because small landslides occur. They are not so terrible, but it is always better to prevent ❤️.
Al pasar por esta parte tomás la verdadera dimensión de la gran pared de tierra alrededor. Volver arriba por este sendero es más sencillo porque la subida es bastante suave: lo único es que hay que tener cuidado de no acercarse mucho a las paredes porque ocurren pequeños desmoronamientos. No son tan terribles, pero siempre es mejor prevenir ❤️.
Although this passage is quite wide, it is only enabled for pedestrians. Arriving at the exit of the route, the passage is blocked so that vehicles cannot pass. This allows you to walk with complete peace of mind without the risk of being run over in any of the curves 😅.
Si bien este pasaje es bastante ancho, solo está habilitado para el paso peatonal. Llegando a la salida del recorrido el paso está obstruido para que los vehículos no puedan pasar. Esto permite que puedas ir caminando con total tranquilidad sin riesgo a ser atropellado en alguna de las curvas 😅.
Once at the top you can see the groove in the ground that we were climbing through and a great panoramic view of the beach. I had already visited this place a few years ago and some paragliding tours started from here, but this time they were not available. This is a shame because on that occasion I had not been able to do it and this time I was ready (and with enough money) to live the experience. It will be another excuse to go again 😃.
Una vez arriba se puede ver el surco en la tierra por el que estuvimos subiendo y una gran vista panorámica de la playa. Yo ya había visitado este lugar hace algunos años y desde aquí mismo partían unos paseos en parapente, pero esta vez no estaban disponibles. Esto es fue una pena porque en esa oportunidad no había podido hacerlo y esta vez estaba lista (y con dinero suficiente) para vivir la experiencia. Será otra excusa para volver a ir 😃.
The Mar del Plata cliffs are a great option to get away from the chaos of the city center and its crowded beaches to the maximum. This whole area has a quiet neighborhood, where you can also get accommodation if the plan is to rest and visit the beach a bit. But if one day you want to enjoy the movement of people, you have the option of getting there by public transport. An ideal location to have a bit of everything, I would say ❤️.
Los acantilados marplatenses son una gran opción para alejarse un poco del caos del centro de la ciudad y sus playas concurridas al máximo. Toda esta zona tiene un barrio tranquilo, en donde también se puede conseguir alojamiento si el plan es descansar y visitar un poco la playa. Pero si algún día querés disfrutar el movimiento de gente, tenes la opción de llegar hasta allá en transporte público. Una ubicación ideal para tener un poco de todo, diría yo ❤️.
My friends and I spend the most hours of sunbathing on the beach. The sea water is always quite cold for me, so once again I only put my legs in and did not dare to take a dip. We had already spent two days at the beach and I still hadn't gotten in the water, but that didn't worry me because we had a full week to see if the heat was enough to convince me. In any case, I was able to enjoy the landscape just the same and we had a great summer afternoon between the sea and the cliff ❤️.
Mis amigas y yo pasamos la mayor cantidad de horas de sol en la playa. El agua del mar siempre me resulta bastante helada, por lo que otra vez solo metí las piernas y no me animé a darme un chapuzón. Ya habíamos pasado dos días en la playa y todavía no me había metido al agua, pero eso no me preocupaba porque teníamos una semana completa para ver si el calor era suficiente como para convencerme. De cualquier forma, el paisaje lo pude disfrutar igual y tuvimos una tarde genial de verano entre el mar y el acantilado ❤️.
