Believe me if I had enough funds to travel the world chasing summer I would definitely do it. And it is that I suffer from the cold so much (as I'm now writing this) that I would like to spend my whole year in a warm place and taking advantage of the sunlight. Dreaming costs nothing they say, and this is just a dream, but at least it comforts me to think that I was able to do it at least once, when on our trip to the south, we looked for a place where it was still warm despite the fact that it was almost summer was over 😅.
Créanme que si tuviera los fondos suficientes como para viajar por el mundo persiguiendo el verano sin dudas lo haría. Y es que sufro tanto el frío (como ahora mientras escribo esto) que quisiera pasar todo mi año en un lugar cálido y aprovechando la luz del sol. Soñar no cuesta nada dicen, y esto es justo un sueño, pero al menos me recorforta pensar en que lo pude hacer al menos una vez, cuando en nuestro viaje al sur, buscamos un sitio en donde aún hiciera calor a pesar de que ya casi se terminaba el verano 😅.
After getting cheap tickets to the city of Trelew in the province of Chubut, my friend had the idea that we should visit a very famous beach in southern Argentina, taking advantage of the fact that we were close to that area. This beach is called Las Grutas and is located in the province of Río Negro, classified by some people as "the best beach in Argentina", and with such a definition, how could you not want to go and see it? 😃
Después de haber conseguido pasajes baratos a la ciudad de Trelew en la provincia de Chubut, mi amiga tuvo la idea que debíamos visitar una playa muy famosa del sur de Argentina, aprovechando que estábamos cerca de esa área. Esta playa se llama Las Grutas y se encuentra en la provincia de Río Negro, clasificada por algunas personas como "la mejor playa de Argentina", y con tal definición, ¿cómo no querer ir a conocerla? 😃.
It's not that we were so close to this beach from Trelew either, but it was less of a trip than going from home to there, so taking advantage of the walk was possible. We only had to take a bus that in 4 hours would leave us at the Las Grutas bus terminal and we would finally make our first stop, so that's what we did. These tickets cost us around 3000 ARS (15 USD), almost as much as the cheap plane ticket and only to travel 300 km.
Tampoco es que estábamos tan cerca de esta playa desde Trelew, pero sí que era menos viaje que ir desde casa hasta allí así que aprovechar el paseo era posible. Solo debíamos tomar un micro que en 4 horas nos dejaría en la terminal de ómnibus de Las Grutas y al fin cumpliríamos nuestra primera parada, así que eso hicimos. Estos pasajes nos costaron alrededor de 3000 ARS (15 USD), casi tanto como el pasaje barato de avión y solo para hacer 300 km.
That day we spent almost the whole day traveling, by plane and then by bus. You can imagine how anxious we were to get to the hostel we had reserved and lie down for a while, but when you are on an express trip like the ones we do there is no time for this. It was almost 6 PM and it was not long before sunset, so we arrived, left our luggage and went to see the sea.
Ese día lo pasamos casi todo el día viajando, en avión y luego en micro. Se imaginaran lo ansiosas que estábamos por llegar al hostel que habíamos reservado y recostarnos un rato, pero cuando estas en un viaje express como estos que hacemos no hay tiempo para esto. Ya casi eran las 6 PM y faltaba poco para el atardecer, así que llegamos, dejamos nuestro equipaje y nos fuimos a ver el mar.
The first impression I had of this beach was like "MEH". I mean, it didn't seem like a more beautiful beach than any I've seen before, such as the ones at Villa La Angostura in Río Negro, so I wasn't even surprised. It looked like any other beach on the Buenos Aires coast, perhaps because the sea was already very high and there was almost no space to go down near the water. This was a bit daunting after all the traveling to get there, but we still had the next day to visit it from morning.
La primera impresión que tuve de esta playa fue como "MEH". O sea no me pareció una playa más hermosa que alguna que haya visto antes, como por ejemplo las de Villa La Angostura en Río Negro, así que ni me sorprendí. Se veía como cualquier playa de la costa bonaerense, quizás porque el mar ya estaba muy crecido y casi no había espacio para bajar cerca del agua. Esto fue un poco desalentador después de tanto recorrido para llegar allí, pero igual aún nos quedaba el día siguiente para visitarla desde la mañana.
My friend and I stayed drinking mate on a rock near the water until it started to get dark and we had to leave because the wind had started to freeze us a bit. Although it was hot during the day, we should not forget that we were in the south of Argentina. We take advantage of the moment of leaving to take a walk through the commercial center of this beach.
Mi amiga y yo nos quedamos tomando mates en una roca cerca del agua hasta que empezó a oscurecer y tuvimos que irnos porque el viento había empezado a congelarnos un poco. Si bien hizo calor durante el día, no debíamos olvidarnos que estábamos en el sur de Argentina. Aprovechamos el momento de irnos para darnos un paseo por el centro comercial de esta playa.
As it was no longer the summer season, there were not so many people and this always generates a bit of nostalgia to see places closed and everything a bit still. I can imagine how crowded this place must be in the middle of January, since there are various gastronomic venues, shopping malls, shops and places for excursions in the area. The pedestrian street looked quite nice, adorned with its lights and the remnants of some artisans who resisted at that time.
Como ya no era temporada de verano, no había tanta gente y esto siempre genera un poco de nostalgia por ver locales cerrados y todo un poco quieto. Me imagino lo repleto que debe estar este sitio en pleno Enero, ya que hay diversos locales gastronómicos, shopping, tiendas y locales para excursiones por la zona. La peatonal se veía bastante linda, adornada con sus luces y el remanente de algunos artesanos que resisitían en esas fechas.
Our previously planned itinerary included an afternoon and a whole day at Las Grutas, so we didn't want to go to sleep so early, but after traveling more than 1,500 km, our bodies needed a break. I felt like I hadn't slept in a thousand hours, but I couldn't even complain because that's the price I always pay for going to a new place. And I'll keep doing it as long as I can 😅.
Nuestro itinerario previamente planificado incluía una tarde y un día entero en Las Grutas así que no queríamos irnos a dormir tan temprano, pero después de más de 1500 km recorridos nuestros cuerpos pedían un descanso. Sentía que no dormía hace mil horas, pero ni siquiera podía quejarme porque ese es el precio que siempre pago por ir a conocer un lugar nuevo. Y lo seguiré haciendo mientras pueda 😅.
