What perfect weather we had for Mother's Day this year 11 May and we chose a perfect venue to celebrate.

"Historic, family-owned Stellenbosch Wine Estate with Tasting Room serving wine tastings & casual lunch, and a world class fine-dining Restaurant for dinner only."
Established in 1694, Rust en Vrede is proud to be part of a remarkable three hundred year old wine tradition.
Rust-en-Vrede was originally built in the 1840's as a prison and police headquarters. It also served as a magistrate's court. It is here that the first Village Management Committee meetings were held.
Contemporary fine dining within Rust en Vrede Wine Estate’s historic former cellar (also a national monument), where the front-and-centre kitchen, fine stemware and bespoke crockery enhance creative four- and six-course menus. A comprehensive winelist carries wide local and international selections, leaving little to be desired.

This was truly an experience in a million. A wonderful memory made for all of us. Would have been perfect if Jack could have been with us. Who knows maybe next year my mother will have all of us with her.
I'm looking forward to experiencing other wine farms in the future and writing about my experiences. Kiara is already planning her next trip to the Cape.
