Last week after all the wedding festivities we had a few more days of my mother in town before she left on Friday evening. This meant a few more days of having a photographer for me and Dzigbordi and a couple more days of finding some things to do to spend some time with her.
For starters for each evening left we took a walk on the beach. One night a friend of mine came to visit to give his congrats. He is a fellow permaculturist and we got a few pictures on the beach.
We also got another chance to chop love in front of the camera.
The next day we walked along the beach the other way.
I got a great shot of Dzigbordi in front of our apartment after the walk.
The next day we had to move into Accra so my mother could get a Covid test before flying the next evening on Friday. We went to Gallery 1957 at the Kempenski hotel mall. There was a nice art exhibit going on.
He uses wood as the background carving out patterns then uses aluminum from cans and different things to add more color and augment the texture.
In the same mall is a spectacular furniture store.
Next stop in the mall was Amba Gallery. We visited this some months ago and I made a post on it when Dzigbordi was featured in a few of the art pieces. This time they had a collection of African Artifacts from all over Africa, but many of them were from Nigeria.
We stepped into an interesting fashion boutique for Chocolate Clothing to do a little window shopping on our way out of the mall.
After that we went to lunch at a hip little place in Accra called One Corner. My mother is a vegetarian and they have a lot of veggie dishes on the menu and hers was probably the most interesting with Fonio (a type of millet grain), plantain, and sauteed mushrooms.
As nice as it was to have my family visit and let Dzigbordi feel their acceptance and love we are ready for some time of our own and to be past this busy expensive period.
Photos were shot by myself or my mother Samsung Galaxy or my Google Pixel 3xl.
