Good morning and excellent midweek to all of you, taking advantage of the fact that I went to run some errands this week around Pampatar, I wanted to visit and take some pictures, in the historical center but specifically in the catholic church that is located there or better said, the Sanctuary of the Holy Christ of the Good Journey of Pampatar, located next to the Bolivar Square and in front of the San Carlos Borromeo Castle, in the city of Pampatar, Margarita Island, Venezuela.
Una ciudad turistica, histórica, colonial y a la vez actual, muy colorida y además muy bonita.
Es una sencilla pero muy cálida construcción, en donde todos los años, gran cantidad de creyentes propios y visitantes rinden devoción al santo los días 2 y 3 de mayo, principalmente pescadores le veneran y rinden tributo para su cuidado en altamar.
Según datos tomados de algunos libros e historiadores, esta iglesia fue creada en el año 1748 por unos españoles que llegaron en unas embarcaciones.
A touristic, historical, colonial and at the same time modern city, very colorful and very beautiful.

Hoy centro mi atención, en la iglesia, aunque fue difícil, ya que justo al lado se encuentra el emblemático Palacio Municipal, donde hacen vida trabajadores y gerente actual, el alcalde del municipio.

Y al frente de la iglesia, se encuentra el Castillo San Carlos de Borromeo y justo detrás del Castillo, está la playa, realmente fue muy difícil elegir cual seria el protagonista de mi publicación del día de hoy.

Durante mi recorrido pude encontrar varios locales de comida, las famosas empanaderas y muchos restaurantes, donde se esmeran por la atención al cliente y así tener una buena referencia, un buen recuerdo y pronto regreso del que lo visita.

No logre tomar fotos de la parte de adentro de la iglesia por encontrarse cerrada debido a la pandemia, aunque me dijo un lugareño muy coloquial y amable que por allí se encontraba, que la iglesia solo tiene abiertas sus puertas los días domingo para la misa dominical.
I was not able to take pictures of the inside of the church because it was closed due to the pandemic, although a very colloquial and friendly local told me that the church is only open on Sundays for Sunday mass.
La leyenda cuenta que una noche tormentosa arribó al puerto de Pampatar un navío procedente de España con las velas y el timón averiados, y que al momento mismo de soltar el ancla en la rada, la tormenta habría cesado por completo. Luego de reparados los daños sufridos a causa del vendaval y el fuerte oleaje, la embarcación partiría de nuevo a su destino.
Pero el mal tiempo surgía cada vez que intentaban hacerse a la mar, impidiéndoselos por tres ocasiones consecutivas. En la tercera estuvieron a punto de zozobrar a escasos metros de la orilla, y los tripulantes comprendieron de pronto que algo que iba a bordo les impedía marcharse.
Es así como deciden bajar a tierra la imagen del Cristo que traían en la bodega del barco, y solo entonces pudieron seguir su travesía sin contratiempos, en un mar tranquilo. Por ésta razón los pampatarenses bautizaron a la imagen como Cristo del Buen Viaje.
Tiempo después, aquellos marinos volvieron a buscar la talla, pero no pudieron sacarla del templo porque, según cuenta la leyenda, sus brazos habían crecido de tal manera que era imposible pasarla a través de la puerta o meterla en el barco.
Legend has it that one stormy night a ship from Spain arrived at the port of Pampatar with damaged sails and rudder, and that at the very moment of dropping anchor in the harbor, the storm would have ceased completely. After repairing the damage caused by the gale and the strong waves, the ship would set sail again to its destination.
But bad weather arose every time they tried to set sail, preventing them from doing so on three consecutive occasions. On the third occasion they were about to capsize a few meters from the shore, and the crew suddenly realized that something on board was preventing them from leaving.
That is how they decided to lower to land the image of Christ that they were carrying in the hold of the ship, and only then could they continue their voyage without mishaps, in a calm sea. For this reason, the people of Pampatar baptized the image as Christ of the Good Voyage.
Some time later, those sailors returned to look for the carving, but they could not take it out of the temple because, according to the legend, its arms had grown in such a way that it was impossible to pass it through the door or to put it into the ship.
Todos estos sitios históricos colocan al estado Nueva Esparta en una posición privilegiada, y permite al turista y aledaños disfrutar de buenos paisajes, gente amable, playas exóticas y un sin fin de monumentos históricos y naturales que demuestran lo sabio de nuestro creador.
Aún me faltó mucho por recorrer en este enigmático lugar, Dios mediante pronto volveré para urgar entre sus paredes y engalanarme con sus bellezas llenas de historia.
All these historical sites place the state of Nueva Esparta in a privileged position, and allow tourists and visitors to enjoy beautiful landscapes, friendly people, exotic beaches and an endless number of historical and natural monuments that demonstrate the wisdom of our creator.
I still had a long way to go in this enigmatic place, God willing I will soon return to delve into its walls and enjoy its beauties full of history.
