Hello Hivers! It’s me, Leyzel. I’m here again to share another story with you.
Last week, I visited one of the most famous churches in the Philippines, the Basilica del Santo Niño here in Cebu. It’s not my first time visiting, since I usually attend Sunday mass here with my family. It’s just one jeepney ride from our house, so it feels very close to home.
When I arrived at Magellan’s Cross, I lit a candle and joined the traditional Sinulog dance as a sign of my deep faith. While dancing, I silently prayed for the safety, good health, and peace of my family. It was my simple way of saying thank you to Señor Santo Niño and asking for His protection. Even though there were many people, it felt like I was alone talking to God. I thanked Him for helping us survive the trials we face every day. Life is not always easy, but knowing that God is with me gives me strength.
After the mass, we slowly walked inside the church. It was quiet and peaceful. We went near the front where the statues of the saints and the image of Señor Santo Niño are placed. I closed my eyes and prayed again, this time, a more personal prayer. I also gave thanks for all the blessings we’ve received, even the small ones. While looking at the statues, I was reminded that even when life gets hard, we are never truly alone.
Before we left the church, we visited the wishing fountain inside the compound. A few people were also there, tossing coins into the water and making wishes. We stepped closer. I closed my eyes for a moment and made a silent wish, not just for myself, but for my whole family. I wished for us to stay healthy, safe, and happy together. Then I dropped the coin into the water. It was such a small act, but it felt so meaningful. That moment reminded me, No matter how simple a prayer is, if it comes from the heart, it truly matters.
I left the place with a lighter heart, believing that my prayers were heard. Sometimes, all we need is a quiet space and a little faith to feel better again.
I hope you also get the chance to visit this beautiful place and experience the same peace I found. It’s more than just a tourist spot, it’s a place where you can really feel God’s presence. It’s a place that touches and heals our soul.
Thank you for reading! Till next time.
God bless you all.
