Being able to visit Disneyland has always been a childhood dream. Growing up, I would spend hours in front of our television watching the classic Disney movies such as Mulan, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and the Lion King. Up until now, I would listen to the soundtrack of the different movies and could memorize the song lyrics by heart🤗
During my 7th birthday, I even had a Beauty and the Beast themed celebration and my parents were very supportive about my love for Disney most especially my favorite Disney princess, Belle.
And on my 18th birthday, I had another Beauty and the Beast themed celebration and even had a photoshoot where I got to be Princess Belle.
On May 2017, I finally was able to visit the so called, “Happiest Place on Earth” and I was indeed the happiest on that said day. I remember waking up extra early to prepare and get dressed up. We had to leave our hotel early so that we would have time to travel towards Disneyland Resort and so we could make it in time for the opening of the theme park. To avoid long queues at the ticket booth, we ordered our tickets at our hotel and thankfully the receptionist was accommodating as well. Our hotel was also located just across the train station and so going around Hongkong was less of a hassle.
Travel Tip: Look for a hotel, guesthouse, or Air BnB that is strategically located a few meters away from the train station to avoid losing your way around the place and it would also be easier to go from one area to another. Travelling by train also avoids you from being stuck in traffic.

Anyhow, as a Disney kid at heart, I could vividly remember the moment I set foot in Hong Kong Disneyland. It was a warm and sunny morning and I was delighted to be able to visit the different attractions around the theme park. But before anything else, I rushed towards a vendor selling different headbands and ear hats. Your Disneyland experience would not be complete without wearing these signature head pieces.
There are various attractions found at the theme park such as the Adventureland, the Mystic Manor, the Iron Man Experience, It’s A Small World, the Castle of Magical Dreams, and among others. There were different parades as well.
This photo was taken during the Flights of Fantasy Parade.
And also, your Disneyland experience would not be complete without being able to taste the Mickey Mouse shaped waffles that tastes as good as it looks.
The highlight of my magical experience was being able to meet and take a photo with my favorite Disney princess, Belle together with Beast. I could remember lining up and waiting for hours just to be able to find an opportunity to be able to do so. Truly, every wait has a worth. My heart was so happy that I could not fathom the words to explain the pure happiness that the 17-year old Era felt being able to achieve her childhood dream.
Looking back at my experience at Disneyland, made my heart ache a little because the pandemic has really hindered us from being able to explore and experience new places. I hope one day, we will be able to go back to how things were. Nevertheless, let’s continue to enjoy this season of our life despite the detours along the way!
How about you? Are you willing to visit Disneyland once the pandemic ends?
