Visit to the Universal Art Museum/ Visita al Museo de Arte Universal

This place was not on the list, but, through one of the open windows on the second floor of the Gran Teatro Nacional Alicia Alonso, we saw the building and its architecture, quite similar to everything around us, caught our attention.

Este sitio no estaba en la lista, pero, por una de las ventanas abiertas en el segundo piso del Gran Teatro Nacional Alicia Alonso, vimos el edificio y su arquitectura, bastante similar a todo lo que nos rodeaba, llamó nuestra atención.

Before going up to the Universal Art Museum, my travel friend Hive account@yecier and I sat down to rest a little on some discreet benches on the side of the Central Park. The conversation we had was fabulous: we talked about dreams, about places we would like to be able to go before we die. Egypt, of course, was number 1 on my list. Since I was a child I have dreamed of that. I love Egyptology 🤤. Traveling through Europe would be great, but I would prefer to first take a trailer tour through Latin America, I would love that. Spend an entire term walking through all those countries full of interesting cultures. Well, after a long time resting there, we finally entered the museum.

Antes de subir al Museo de Arte Universal, mi amigo de viaje Hive account@yecier y yo, nos sentamos a descansar un poco en unos bancos discretos hacia un costado del Parque Central. La conversación que tuvimos fue fabulosa: hablamos sobre sueños, sobre sitios a los que nos gustaría poder ir antes de morir. Egipto, por supuesto, fue el número 1 en mi lista. Desde niña he soñado con eso. Me encanta la Egiptología 🤤. Viajar por Europa estaría muy bien, pero, preferiría primero hacer un recorrido en trailer por Latinoamérica, eso sí me encantaría. Pasarme todo un trimestre paseando por todos esos países llenos de culturas tan interesantes. Bueno, después de un buen rato allí descansando, finalmente entramos al museo.

I must confess that I expected more from the Universal Museum of Art. The place seemed a little shabby to me. The attention of the guides was not friendly either. However, we did have a pleasant time in the souvenir shop. That was where we bought the gift for our friend's birthday: cardboard reproductions of very interesting paintings, contemporary alternative designs.

Debo confesar que esperaba más del Museo de Arte Universal. El sitio me pareció un poco mustio. La atención de las guías tampoco fue afable. Sin embargo, en la tienda de souvenires sí pasamos un rato agradable. Allí fue donde compramos el regalo para el cumpleaños de nuestra amiga: reproducciones en cartulina de pinturas muy interesantes, diseños alternativos contemporáneos.

First we entered the contemporary audiovisual room, where there was an Expo: a collection of both conventional and digital photographs.

Primero entramos a la sala de audiovisuales contemporáneos, donde había una Expo: colección de fotografías tanto convencionales como digitales.

Afterwards, we went up to the second floor and visited the rooms, organized by geographical area of their authors and in chronological order.

Después, subimos al segundo piso y visitamos las salas, organizadas por área geográfica de sus autores y en orden cronológico.

Of all the places we went that time, that was the one I liked the least, but I think maybe it was because I was so tired. I feel like I didn't get the most out of that visit, so maybe I'll visit again next time I travel to the capital.

De todos los sitios a los que fuimos en esa ocasión ese fue el que menos me gustó, pero, creo que quizás fue por lo cansada que estaba. Siento que no aproveché al máximo esa visita, así que quizás vuelva a visitarlo la próxima vez que viaje a la capital.
