The city of Cambridge in UK is of course most famous for its University. It's one of the top two universities in UK. As to whether it's the first or second depends on who you talk to. Anyway, I shall share a proper Cambridge post later on. Today, I want to share an alternative tour of places in Cambridge - the LooLoo tour 😊
Let's start from when I picked up my car rental to start my trip.
Gatwick Airport var rental
During Covid, Gatwick Airport is one of the worse hit airports in UK. When I picked up my car rental, the guy at the car rental said they used to do about 150 rentals a day, now they're down to around 30 a day. All the car rental desks were here, and there was hardly a soul around. Very sad. The toilet here was very functional, and on the large side. Probably to accommodate travellers and their luggage.

The Galleria, Hatfield
En route from London to Cambridge I stopped by a town called Hatfield for lunch. I saw a sign called Galleria which I thought sounded like a shopping mall and I was right. There weren't many people around the shopping mall and the toilet was empty apart from myself.

Churchill College, Cambridge University
My first stop at Cambridge, was the University, Churchill College is one of the newer colleges and lack the traditional character of the more established ones. The toilets are the same, very functional. Most of to students have moved out already. I think someone may have placed this fancy bottle of hand cream in the toilet instead if throwing it away.

Sandringham Estate
I did a couple of day trips to nearby towns. The first was to Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. It's about 50 miles away from Cambridge and is the Queen's private estate. That's where she spends Christmas every year. There'll be a post about that. Of course I didn't get to see the Queen's toilet, so can only offer you a view of the visitors loo. Sadly not very regal at all.

Fox and Hounds Barley
The best toilets can always be found in restaurants as it forms part of the overall decor and experience. I went to a pub for dinner, and it was so good to be dining out again. The mosaic tiles were so charming, but my favourite is this toilet holder, particularly the decorative top. It's a little beauty.

No 30 / The Waterman
Breakfast is in a cafe attached to a pub next door. Dark blue isn't a very popular colour for loos, and I don't think I've seen a dark blue toilet seat before. However, it works very well as a backdrop colour to the white basin and exposed pipes.
Ely Cathedral
On another day I went to Ely, it's about 15 miles away from Cambridge and is a historical city. The most famous landmark at Ely is Ely Cathedral. Look out for another post on Ely. The loo inside the cathedral wasn't anything special, but I think the window is very fitting for a Cathedral window.

Peacocks Tearoom
Out of all the toilets I saw during my few days around Cambridge, the one here is without a doubt my favourite. There are two at this cafe. The smaller one with the antlers and peacock wallpaper would easily top my list, had it not been for its neighbour. Cuppa while you're in the loo anyone? Honestly, how homely can you make a toilet? If you put a cover over the cistern, you could easily imagine yourself sitting in a small cosy room. Isn't it gorgeous!!!
