Last weekend the weather was very nice so Elena and I decided to go for a hike. We chose a route between some lakes in our area. We heard that this tour is beautiful because the landscape on the way is switching a lot. Also, the dog can be running free most of the time and it is not too hard to walk for 2,5hrs as we are just starting to get in shape again.
So after breakfast, we packed our things and got ready for the tour. The dog could feel that something was going on - at least he looked like it ;)
We drove around 30 minutes until we arrived at the starting point in Weßling - a small village right next to lake Weßling.
The tour is about 9 km long and takes around 2,5 hrs. It is a round trip just between the 3 lakes: Weßlingsee, Pilsensee, and Wörthsee. The path is at all times good and easy for walking. In summer it is highly frequented because of the beautiful landscape and the opportunity to swim before, afterward, or at a break. For bikers, it is also nice to come here.
As it is winter now and not vacation time, we were lucky. - We almost met no people on this hike. Once we parked the car we started walking first on the street and very soon along the train rail towards the forest. It was sunny but very windy (cold wind), but we were highly motivated for this adventure.
After about 15 minutes we already arrived at the forest part. I just love to be in the forest. It is very quiet and I always feel like my batteries are getting charged.
We followed this trail for quite some time until the forest part ended and we were out on the field again. The wind welcomed us back right away blowing in our faces :D
Once we reached the village Meiling, we crossed it and turned left towards the next village called Delling. It was a very small village with only a few houses. In German, we call that a Kuhkaff (cowplace), because often you will find more cows than people living there.
This next part was totally different. I felt a little bit like walking somewhere in Scottland because I could only see nature around me and the path was following a little fence (I know in Scottland it is mostly a stone wall, but it felt similar). Really great the feeling of freedom breathing this fresh air - being all by yourself in the middle of nature!
Soon after we reached the village Delling where we had to cross the street using a painted tunnel, which was a bit spooky because there were aliens and spiderman painted on the walls and just one day before we had watched the movie spiderman :D
Funny coincidence!
The next part of that tour was my personal favorite! After we had crossed that village we found ourselves on a long road/avenue with old trees on our sides. They lead us back all the way to Weßling.
We could see that the village is Weßling because the architecture of the houses changed immediately. I don't know how it is in other countries, but here it is pretty expensive to live right next to a lake - so only the rich can afford a house there. - that's also the reason why the houses are built like this!
Of course, we went all the way along the lake and enjoyed part of the sunset there before we went back to our car. - I just love to be on the water!
After the 2,5hrs walking, we were happy that we made it and we were back at the car. It was a very nice tour, we enjoyed it very much - but also we had underestimated the cold, so we were happy to be in the car with the heat on.
Check out the video of the tour if you want:
And again, it was the perfect ending for a perfect day! Even the dog was happy but tired!
We will definitely do that tour again! Maybe next time in summer :)
Cheers,
Liz
