Hey guys! Hope you all entered well in the year 2022 together with your friends and loved ones!!
Here in Germany, we had some surprisingly warm days around 15 degrees and with no snow. That is very unusual for this time of the year, but I am happy about it as I always prefer warm over cold ;)
On the 31st my GFs family came by, we had some Raclette - very traditional for New Year in Germany! It is like a small grill where you can put all kinds of meat and vegetables on.
On the inside, you put little pans filled with whatever you want to eat and raclette cheese on top.
After dinner, we played some board games and cards and then at 12 o clock we wished each other, our friends on the phone and our neighbors from the balcony a happy new year!
YES - no party, no big gathering, and no fireworks. - Well there were some on the street, but officially it was forbidden because of COVID. Only two households were allowed to party together and everybody had to be vaccinated or tested.
On one side good, because I managed not to smoke even on New Year ;) - because of lack of alcohol, haha, and the dog was super calm, but on the other side very sad, as I am used to big parties and gatherings on that day!
Anyways. The next day we decided to get some fresh air and do a New Year walk altogether. - So we drove to a park not far from us called Aubinger Lohe and started walking there with the dog.
It is a long field with many paths through the forest, along the River or the Gröbenbach. The fields are huge and at all times of the year, it is the perfect spot to take a long walk or start your biking tour towards the lakes in our surroundings. We don't come here often, but when we have the time we enjoy it very much.
The first part along the rails was a bit muddy, but once we had crossed that part we were on a nice way walking along the Gröbenbach.
The weather was just perfect and there were almost no people around, so the dog could run around as fast and long as he wanted to. He was jumping up and down in the water and over the fields.
We followed the path for all the curves and crossed some fields, always with the water next to us and the sun shining on our faces. What a great way to start this year in the middle of nature.
At half of the route, we passed the airport for model airplanes, where quite some people were flying their planes right next to a sheep flock.
A few hundred further there were cows also. - very unusual at this time of the year!
From there it was not far until we reached the car again. Chapo went for a final swim and then we basically were there.
What a perfect way to start the year! Happy New Year everybody! I wish you all the best, health, luck, and that your dreams come true!
Cheers,
Liz
