CAMARAHAN PAHIRON RIDGE
Many people believe that when a trip or outing is unplanned, it is more likely to occur than when it is planned ahead of time.
But, of course, planning ahead of time keeps us from getting into trouble or forgetting something important in connection with such an activity.
Anyway, another unexpected family outing occurred a few days ago. I'm glad it happened unexpectedly, even though I hadn't planned for it. And the experience was truly spectacular.
Maybe it was because I was with my entire family, including my wife, who happened to be off duty on that day, which was not her usual schedule. But perhaps the time really did allow us and made us all available.
On my part, I was also busy at the time; I was in a zoom meeting when they decided to go out, and I was praying that I would be done with the meeting soon so that I could join them. Fortunately, the meeting had just ended, and I was on my way to meet them or go with them.
The target destination is about a few kilometers from our residence. Not really that far but there is no public utility vehicle going to that route so we need to bring our own vehicle to be able to go there.
I am supposed to bring my car but since we can be accommodated by my sister’s truck so I just left my car to save for the fuel. And besides, my son went ahead by bicycle, surprisingly he arrived at our destination a few minutes ahead of us. Although it’s because we still had to go somewhere plus went to the gas station before we went straight to the area.
Before going further with my story, I would like to present to you PAHIRON RIDGE, it is located along Lumbia and Pagatpat Road, still in Cagayan de Oro City.
It was just a few months ago when it becomes one of the most visited tourist destinations here in Cagayan de Oro City. I think they boomed at the start of the Pandemic when people are not allowed to go to public and congested areas in the city.
People here find their way to the scenic mountains just adjacent to the city proper.
Actually, my kids have been there a few times since they are bikers and Pahiron is one of their favorite destinations. I’ve been there too 2 times already but only up to the highway, and I’m glad this time I was able to go up there!
My kids really had a wonderful time, perhaps because we were with my sister’s family also. It’s not always that we get this chance, and also the place is not a usual place we used to visit.
Literally, we were at the top of the hill, we stayed there for a few hours, having our snacks, and had a sing-along after taking pictures of every angle of the mountain. Indeed this place is a good place to go if we want relaxation and commune with nature.
As to the expenses, it’s minimal, they charged 50 pesos only or 1$ entrance fee. And if you want to stay in one of the cottages located at the side of the mountain you only have to pay around 4$ or 200 pesos, you can stay there the whole day if you want.
