This happened a few years back when Covid-19 is not yet around. It was indeed a once in a lifetime opportunity and really worth to be shared.
If given the chance in the future I would surely find a way to experience it with the whole family.
White Water Rafting has become a popular recreational activity in Cagayan de Oro, our city is gifted with the spectacular river from the mountainside down to the city proper.
This activity utilized a raft to navigate the river, usually done on different degrees of rough water. In that way, the raft passengers will experience the thrill and excitement of a lifetime.
SHORT HISTORY
White Water Rafting in Cagayan de Oro started as a hobby by outdoor sports enthusiasts. This was organized by the Cagayan de Oro Whitewater Rafting Adventure in 1995.
Their goal was to introduce such amazing sports in the country and they were indeed successful. It became very popular in fact was tried by one of the Philippine former President.
And from then on it became one of the favorite destinations or activities both by locals and foreign visitors.
CAGAYAN DE ORO WHITEWATER RAFTING
Cagayan de Oro City Whitewater Rafting was dubbed as the adventure capital of the Philippines, Cagayan de Oro became the home to some of the most scenic and exhilarating whitewater rafting.
EXCITING TRIP
From 1995 up to now, the Cagayan de Oro Whitewater rafting Adventure has been providing river rafting trips. Although this time because of COVID-19 such activity for a large group of people is suspended. Hoping in the near future such a wonderful activity will again be open to all who love adventure while embracing Mother Nature.
MERCURY DRUG FAMILY DAY
So this was the Family Day of Mercury Drug Corporation, the company I worked for more than 6 years and still my wife's employer after more than 25 years. I left the company for work abroad, while my wife remains working with Mercury Drug. Now she's waiting for a few years so she could retire.
We used to spend Family Day at a beach or somewhere else which is happening once every year, but this time the group decided to try the famous Whitewater Rafting.
Some of our family activity prior to the water rafting includes bowling, KTV, swimming, etc., but this one was the best so far.
As you can see, almost the whole family of each employee was there and that includes little kids I think aged 6 and above were allowed. The activity is so dangerous for little kids like 3 years old and below.
The activity has different stages and as usual, the final stage is the best experience ever. But in this blog, since I decided to make it a series, I will be focusing on the first stage which is picture taking and the briefing.
The briefing is required before the normal rafting starts, there are lots of instructions that need to be followed in order to remain safe all throughout the activity. As while the whole experience is so satisfying, it is also a little bit dangerous.
PARTICIPANTS
The participants were employees of several Mercury drug branches in Cagayan de Oro together with their respective families. That is why if you observed there were lots of people who joined, it was such a memorable day with the whole family.
