Nun war ich mit meiner Freundin einige Wochen an der Küste der Algarve (Portugal) unterwegs. Wir spazierten entlang der Holzpfade von Lagos und Carvoeiro entlang und bestaunten die typischen Klippen/Felsformationen. Auf eine Fahrt mit dem Boot, um die dazugehörigen Grotten zu besuchen, haben wir wegen unruhiger See und trotz der Nebensaison erhöhtem Touristenaufkommen verzichtet. In Cabo Sâo Vincente, dem süd westlichsten Punkt Portugals (nahe Sagres) und Europas haben uns die 80 Meter senkrecht abfallenden Klippen und das Getöse der auf die Steilwände treffende Brandung in ihren Bann gezogen. Bei Rundgang über die zahlreichen Trekkingpfade habe ich wohl den mutigsten bzw leichtsinnigsten Fischer entdeckt. Und wir haben bemerkt, dass bis mehrere 100 Meter ins Landesinnere keine Planzen höher als 30 cm wuchs. Dies schloss ich auf den starken Wind, welcher vom Atlantik über die Klippen zieht, doch an unserem Nachmittag war es windstill und es schien die Sonne.
Now I was travelling with my girlfriend for a few weeks along the coast of the Algarve (Portugal). We walked along the wooden paths of Lagos and Carvoeiro and marvelled at the typical cliffs/rock formations. We refrained from taking a boat trip to visit the associated grottos because of choppy seas and an increased number of tourists despite the low season. In Cabo Sâo Vincente, the southernmost point of Portugal (near Sagres) and Europe, we were captivated by the 80-metre vertical cliffs and the roar of the surf hitting the steep walls. Walking around the numerous trekking paths, I probably discovered the bravest or most reckless fisherman. And we noticed that no plants grew higher than 30 cm until several 100 metres inland. I concluded that this was due to the strong wind blowing from the Atlantic over the cliffs, but on our afternoon there was no wind and the sun was shining.
Ahora estaba viajando con mi novia durante unas semanas por la costa del Algarve (Portugal). Caminamos por los senderos de madera de Lagos y Carvoeiro y nos maravillamos con los típicos acantilados/formaciones rocosas. No hicimos una excursión en barco para visitar las cuevas debido al mar embravecido y al mayor número de turistas a pesar de ser temporada baja. En Cabo Sâo Vincente, el punto más meridional de Portugal (cerca de Sagres) y de Europa, nos cautivaron los acantilados verticales de 80 metros y el rugido del oleaje al golpear las escarpadas paredes. Caminando por los numerosos senderos, probablemente descubrí al pescador más valiente o más temerario. Y nos dimos cuenta de que ninguna planta crecía más de 30 cm hasta varios 100 metros hacia el interior. Llegué a la conclusión de que esto se debía al fuerte viento que soplaba desde el Atlántico sobre los acantilados, pero en nuestra tarde no había viento y el sol brillaba.

Bei Fuseta sind wir mit dem Fahrad durch die Salinen gefahren, und konnten dabei Flamingos und andere Vögel beobachten. Und danach haben wir uns noch ein Bad im ruigen Meerwasser (November, 18°C) gegönnt, denn der Antlantik wird von den vorgelagerten Inseln und Naturschutzgebiete Ria Formosa gebändigt. Die Umgebungen eignet sich sehr gut zur Erkundung mit dem Fahrad. Die Gegend ist vorwiegend flach, und man findet immer wieder kleine Strässchen ohne viel Verkehr.
At Fuseta, we cycled through the salt flats, watching flamingos and other birds. Afterwards, we enjoyed a swim in the calm sea water (November, 18°C), because the Antlantic is tamed by the offshore islands and nature reserve Ria Formosa. The surroundings are very suitable for exploring by bicycle. The area is mainly flat, and there are always small roads without much traffic.
En Fuseta, atravesamos las salinas en bicicleta, observando flamencos y otras aves. Después, disfrutamos de un baño en las tranquilas aguas del mar (noviembre, 18°C), ya que el Antlántico está domesticado por las islas de la costa y la reserva natural de Ria Formosa. Los alrededores son muy adecuados para explorarlos en bicicleta. La zona es principalmente plana, y siempre hay pequeñas carreteras sin mucho tráfico.

In Faro haben wir Dokumente ausgedruckt und versendet und danach einen Sonnenuntergang über dem Ria Formosa genossen, und sind in Olhâo der Seepromenade entlang spaziert und haben in einem der unzähligen Cafés gewürfelt und Kaffee getrunken. Ja... wir genossen die Zeit im der Algarve.
In Faro we printed and sent documents and then enjoyed a sunset over the Ria Formosa, and in Olhâo we walked along the seafront and diced and drank coffee in one of the countless cafés. Yes... we enjoyed our time in the Algarve.
En Faro imprimimos y enviamos documentos y luego disfrutamos de una puesta de sol sobre la Ría Formosa, y en Olhâo paseamos por el paseo marítimo y tomamos café en una de las innumerables cafeterías. Sí... hemos disfrutado de nuestra estancia en el Algarve.

Genächtigt haben wir jeweils auf Campingplätzen. Der Camping de Lagoao in Moncarapacho ist dabei sehr zu empfehlen. Dort sind wir drei Wochen hängengeblieben und es war super entspannend. Ein einfacher Campingplatz im Grünen mit warmer Dusche, einer kleinen Bar, in der alles (Kaffee, Bier und Wein) einen Euro kostet und viele umher streichende Tiere (Hühner, Katzen und Hunde).
We spent the nights at campsites. Camping de Lagoao in Moncarapacho is highly recommended. We stayed there for three weeks and it was very relaxing. A simple campsite in the countryside with warm showers, a small bar where everything (coffee, beer and wine) costs one euro and lots of animals (chickens, cats and dogs) roaming around.
Pasamos las noches en campamentos. El Camping de Lagoao en Moncarapacho es muy recomendable. Nos quedamos allí durante tres semanas y fue muy relajante. Un camping sencillo en el campo con duchas calientes, un pequeño bar donde todo (café, cerveza y vino) cuesta un euro y muchos animales (gallinas, gatos y perros) vagando por ahí.
