There is one place at Kundasang that you would definitely love to visit if you do have the chance to get here. It is to this beautiful Alpaca club. I guess, this is the only alpaca club in Malaysia. These alpacas have been imported from Australia.
Meet one of the alpaca
So cute.
Alpacas 🦙 are generally calm animals but provoked will either run away, bite or spit.
This club just recently opened not too long ago. They have also bred a couple of offsprings too.
If you do want to visit this place just go to google and type : Alpaca club, Kundasang. You have to hire someone to bring you uphere or just drive up here with a rental car.
Kundasang, Sabah
Two hours drive up winding roads just to get here from the main city centre, Kota Kinabalu, which is the capital of Sabah. Sabah and Sarawak are on the eastern side of Malaysia.
The altitude of this area is around 1900 meters above sea leevel . The temperature here matches the Australian climate. This is the first time in my entire life seeing these cute alpacas in person.
The scenic view
Lush greens and beautiful mountain ranges covered with vegetation. The last time I drove up here, this club did not exist.
Guests are only allowed 20 minutes to view and interact with the alapacas. The animal keepers here also helps you take selfies with them.
The signboard at the entrance
Taking a photo beneath this wishing tree. Checking in for instagram.
There is a diary farm nearby too. I visited the diary farm the last time I was here so this time, it is the alpaca club.
There is a homestay here as well if you want to stay here for the night.
We walked down some steps and finally saw the alpaca enclosure area.
Full of people waiting. The time of interaction is broken down into different sections.
So, I made my way to the ticket counter and bought a couple of tickets. Waited while the other group was in the enclosure. Approximately twenty minutes.
They so that just to make sure that the alapacas do not get shocked or frightened by the overwhelming number of visitors who want to interact with them.
While waiting, I enjoyed the view. The skies were slightly darker. The few days that I stayed here, it rained. It looked like it was about to rain.
The tickets.
I was excited.
The ticketing booth and the showtimes.
While waiting. This is my wife.
Finally, it was our turn to see the alapcas.
The first thing was a briefing by the person in charge. The rules. No touching alpacas at certain parts of they would bite or spit. After around ten minutes of that, it was time to head in and check this place out.
White and brown alpacas
These are super fluffy. They are quite calm.
This alpaca wants to take a photo. Doesn't it look cute.
Everyone gathered near the fences and took photos of them while touching them.
This is how you get a photo taken with one of the alapca
They ask you to hold this bowl of food and while the alpaca eats, they can help take a photo.
My wife taking a photo with the alpaca
Everyone is pretty excited to take a photo with the alpaca.
The alpaca and its family
Despite only having twenty minutes per session, I felt that there was enough time for you to basically interact with them. Take pictures and touch their fluffy fur.
The fur of this little one is quite unique to look at. Its got two shades of colours. Light brown and white.
This one has got its fur sheared not too long ago.
Quite friendly and calm. You can touch it but just becareful of touching sensitive areas.
Some photos with the alpacas
After twenty minutes, we were ready to head out of the alpaca enclosure.
Climebed up these steps.
The view here is simply amazing.
If you want to watch a full tour, you can check out this video that I recorded while I was there at the club.
Thank you for spending your time reading this post. It is worth to visit this place despite having a twenty minutes limitation. It is not everyday that we get to see alpacas up close.
