This Sunday, my sister and her husband and I went to a place that is not very well known.
It is located 74 km from our hometown of Veliko Tarnovo, near the village of Miykovtsi. In fact, the closest town to this lodge is Elena (27 km from there), which is very popular among the traditional reindeer thigh , and it is also a place where people are going to relax or to celebrate their birthdays away from the noise of the city.
The name of the place where we went is Chumerna.
Actually this is the name of the peak and that's the reason why the name of the Lodge is the same.
We didn't know, but getting there by car is a bit difficult, because the nearest parking lot is 3 km from the Lodge and is almost impassable.
I'm not sure if we made a mistake or if the road is through the trees, but it took us more than an hour and a half to cross it.
Of course, the air is different and the oxygen coming into your head makes you feel good.
There were signs along the way to guide us.
We had to trust them because we didn't have mobile services. So we couldn't use Google Maps.
These flowers were almost everywhere ... I'm not sure what they are called, but one of my favorite colors is purple, so I like them too.
The other thing I love is the mountain view, so when you're in the Chumerna area, you can't resist taking pictures of them. The sky was amazing too.
It was really good when we finally arrived at the "Chumerna Lodge".
The weather was sunny, but not really hot, so we wanted to have tea.
In our country Bulgaria this type of lodges / huts are in very bad condition. That's why it's very cheap to sleep there - it's about $ 6 a day.
For example, the price for one person to stay in the nearest town of Elena is about $ 35, so some people prefer to sleep in poor conditions - to save money.. and also the air is very, very different.
Of course, some people love this lifestyle. We met a man from Germany who had lived in the lodge since January and he told us that this is the best time of his life .. It was hard for me to understand him, but ...
By the way, people from all over the world live in my village(we have people from Australia, the Netherlands, France, the USA, England, Ireland and other countries) and almost all of them are retired. The life in our country is cheap, so they spend their pensions here, living the life .. :)
Anyway. My sister likes to drink beer at the bar, as you can tell from her T-shirt.
The funny thing was that she forgot to take a few beers in her bag, as she does every day.
But the exceptional view made us forget about this problem :)
In fact, I couldn't say that this is a problem, because I also like to drink beer .. everyday 😂
We finally reached the highest point. The feeling was wonderful.
Chumerna Peak is 1362 meters above sea level. We are a Christian country, so there is a Christian cross at almost every peak.
It was a very long day. We were very tired and thirsty, so the first thing we did after going to the car was to get to the nearest store and have a few beers.
If you are following my #BeerSaturday posts, you probably know that I stopped drinking a beer for a while, but trips like this made me end up with a cold beer.
In these difficult times, when the coronavirus is spreading in the cities, your escape is to spend your weekend in the Nature .. Soon the weather will be bad, so do not waste your time :)
Stay positive!
