Hallo! Continuing our journey through France, we also traveled to Gruissan Plage, near Narbonne. We drove there from Toulouse, and the trip took about an hour and a half.
Along the way, we passed through areas that looked burned, as well as beautiful mountain landscapes. We weren’t sure of the exact cause, but it may have been due to the intense summer heat. After those striking scenes along the road, we finally arrived at our destination.
Gruissan Plage is known for its charming village of small beach houses, each with its own unique style and design. They looked so cute and all house are in one plain white color. The tiny village is inspired by homes from different countries. I wish I could share a video of it—it truly felt like a dream village by the sea.
As we drove toward our beach house, everything felt calm and peaceful. We weren’t sure whether the other houses were occupied by tourists or locals, or if it was simply quiet at the time of our arrival.
When we reached our place, I couldn’t help but wonder how everything would fit into such a small home for our three-day stay. But once inside, I was pleasantly surprised—it was cozy, beautifully decorated in a marine or sailor-inspired style, and fully equipped with everything we needed. It had a small kitchen, a dining area that could seat up to five people, and two bedrooms: a master bedroom and an extra room with two beds, where my daughter slept comfortably. It has also a complete washing area just at the corner of the front door.

This is the entrance leading to the beach view. From our place, it only took a few steps to reach the long, clean, and peaceful shoreline. For me, it was the perfect kind of escape, calm and uncrowded, with plenty of space to simply relax and enjoy the view.
Even if more people were to visit, the beach is incredibly looooong more than enough to accommodate both tourists and locals without feeling crowded.
A village of beach houses made for quiet moments and gentle escapes, with the ocean just a few steps away.
From here, you can see the interior of the house—a charming, marine- or sailor-inspired beach home that perfectly matches the serene atmosphere of Gruissan Plage.
I took photos of the small kitchen, dining area, and the two bedrooms. I wasn’t able to photograph the bathroom, but it was complete with basic amenities, including toiletries, towels, a mirror, and even a small bathtub—simple yet cozy.
The dining area is connected to the main living space, which flows seamlessly into the kitchen. The living area also includes a TV with free Wi-Fi and access to Netflix and other streaming services. There’s a cabinet stocked with kitchen essentials like bowls, plates, glasses, and utensils. The kitchen itself is equipped with a microwave, coffee machine, and oven.
Although some basic seasonings like salt and pepper were available, we chose to buy our own groceries for our three-day stay. One thing we learned from this experience is that it’s helpful to bring some of your own kitchen items, such as pots, pans, or utensils. Some of the ones provided didn’t feel clean enough for our comfort, so I washed them thoroughly—though I must admit, I’m a bit particular when it comes to cleanliness.
Another thing to note is that the pillows didn’t have covers and there were no blankets provided. The owner had informed us in advance that we would need to bring our own, but since our stay was short, we didn’t purchase extra bedding. Instead, we improvised—we used large towels as pillow covers, my daughter used her own pillow from the car, and we brought our blankets inside.
Of course, not every trip goes perfectly, and not every plan works out exactly as expected. But despite these small challenges, everything turned out well, and it was still a lovely and cozy place for our little family to stay.
The beach was incredibly clean and peaceful, with only a few people around. It felt like we had the entire shoreline to ourselves, we enjoyed it so much.
My husband took care of the grill—meat, sausages, barbecue, and paprika—while I made a fresh tomato salad with olive oil, salt, and pepper, plus some sliced fruits. And of course, we couldn’t skip the wine. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day.💖
Here are some views of the entrance area outside. There is a spacious garage in front of the house, along with a long table that’s perfect for grilling and enjoying meals outdoors. The setting is quite charming, with a large decorative barrel and two long metal chairs that add a nice, aesthetic touch—perfect for photos. And yes, if you look closely, you’ll spot my husband there too!😅
Doing laundry was not a problem at all. The house had a washing machine with a dryer, as well as a large outdoor rack for hanging clothes.
As I mentioned earlier, we also did some grocery shopping. We bought enough food to chill and freeze for our three-day stay, along with some detergent for washing dishes and clothes. If you’re wondering, there are also plenty of pubs, restaurants, and a supermarket nearby. You can even find lots of souvenirs in the area.
For families traveling with children, there is a large playground with plenty of activities and snack stands—perfect for keeping the kids entertained.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would love to come back, relax again, and explore more nearby places that we didn’t get to visit this time. I can definitely recommend this place.😊💙
