Hello to everyone! ππ»
In today's blog Iβve decided to present you another incredibly beautiful and interesting city in Romania. Itβs called Alba Iulia. Translated, it means "White Fortressβπ°.
Alba Iulia is definitely not a place you will find in tourist guides, something that will change very π , as critics describe the city as the "rising star of Romanian tourism".
It is also the administrative center of the Alba region in Transylvania, Romania. Geographically, Alba Iulia is located at the Cluj-Napoca-Sibiu crossroads.
The city dates back to the beginning of the 2nd century, just before the Romans entered these lands.
As I said in the previous part of "Travel is my therapy", I had to spend 2 months in Romania and more precisely in the city of Sibiu, as I was on student mobility under the Erasmus + program.
Thanks to which I met a lot of people, got to know in part the culture of the Romanian population and had the opportunity to visit a large number of cities and landmarks.
Well, this visit and experience is also due to Erasmus student mobility in Sibiu. They organized one-day trip to Alba Iulia, in which they invited all of the foreign students. Here is the place to say - a huge Thank you ππ» for the organization and unforgettable memories!
Well, on March 7, we left Sibiu for Alba Iulia. The distance between the two cities is nearly 70 km. It took us about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there.
And of course, since we arrived in Alba Iulia at noon, the first thing we had to do was - have lunch. ππ
The portions were enormous and the price was only 20 Lei (2 euro)
As soon as we step on the center, an incredible view is revealed in front of us.
We are located on the territory of the citadel Alba-Carolina. Looking at it from the air, one will see that this fortress is in the shape of a star.
On its territory are located many museums, churches and the Unification Hall, which in 1918 was the unification of the Romanian state and Banat, Transylvania.
Due to our limited time, we were able to see most of the sights only from the outside.
But this was not a problem for us, as we had a guide who explained the whole history of the town and the fortress.

At the entrance of the fortress we see a high bell tower and a statue of King Ferdinand 1. This is no accident, in 1922 - it was in Alba Iulia that the coronation and proclamation of King Ferdinand I and Queen Mary took place in the Church "St. Mikhail β.

The church is a place where you can enjoy every detail from architecture to mosaic and frescoes.
On the right of the church you can see the Roman-Catholic Cathedral Saint Michael - which is the oldest cathedral in Transylvania. If you have time Iβll suggest you to climb the 56.7 meters tower. Unfortunately it was closed when we were there.
After visiting the church and the cathedral we had time for some photos and to buy souvenirs.
And of course a group photo.
After sealing the moment, we headed to The third gate of the fortress. Probably the most beautiful one. π

After that we had another 30 min to go whenever we want.
After this not so long, but fruitful walk, it was time for afternoon coffee and a donut in the colors of the π·π΄ flag.
