Hi my loving Hivers,
Welcome to my Hive blog. How are you friends? I really believe that you are spending really nice weekend with your beloved once. The Nuwara Eliya region of Sri Lanka is actually a very cold region. Tea cultivation in that area has a special place due to the cold weather conditions. On a day last December, when Sri Lanka was at its peak tourist attraction, I had the opportunity to visit this tea estate and the Blue Field Tea Factory with a friend of mine and two other foreign women. It was truly a pleasure to stay in that tea estate, with its beautiful landscapes surrounded by mountains. It was after a long time that I had the opportunity to visit the Nuwara Eliya area. Therefore, I made sure to spend that beautiful time in a very fun and happy way. Those two foreign women are two fun characters. So, what we hope to bring to you through this content is to present you with the experiences we had during our time in the Ramboda area of Nuwara Eliya.
In Sri Lanka, tea leaves are picked by poor Tamil women. They pick the leaves from the trees with a basket hanging on their backs and collect them. The tea leaves collected in this way are transported by lorries. The lorries take them directly to the tea factory. The two foreign women who came with us behaved very cheerfully as tea leaf pickers after receiving the relevant information. They happily stated that this was a new and memorable experience for them. When looking around from the Blue Field Tea Estate, one can see the most beautiful landscapes. It is unique that the famous mountain ranges located nearby can be seen through them.
The Blue Field Tea Estate was established during the British colonial period in Sri Lanka. It was governed by a British governor at that time. During the British rule, tea plantations were expanded extensively in Sri Lanka because it was a major export plantation crop. This estate has created employment opportunities for many people around the area. It is a great relief to the income status of the people there. Although the Nuwara Eliya Ramboda area is a cold area, it was very sunny on the day we visited. Therefore, our two tourists were able to enjoy their travel experience freely.
After completing all the activities at the tea plantation, we headed straight to the Blue Field Tea Factory. The area around the Blue Field Tea Factory is beautifully decorated. The management has succeeded in creating this beautiful environment by filling the roadside with ornamental trees. The tea factory, which is accessed through an iron gate, is truly beautiful and old. It is painted in light blue. A large number of tourists had already come to visit the tea factory when we arrived. They can be expected to come to see the tea processing process, especially at the Pila Tea Factory, which produces many unique tea varieties. The beauty of the surrounding environment can be seen clearly from the tea factory premises. This platform is especially useful for better blending the landscapes of the surrounding mountain ranges.
The interior of this tea factory is paved with marble. It is a truly unique feature because of the ease of walking. Several old lorries and cars used during the British colonial period can still be seen here. They have been kept safe so that they do not decay, perhaps with the aim of showing old memories. It is a great opportunity for tourists to see lorries used in the past today.
We entered this tea factory during lunch time, so we did not see any workers inside during the day. Especially since the operators who operate the machinery were not present, we missed the opportunity to gain some knowledge. However, according to the information provided by a senior official, it was an important experience to have the opportunity to gain some knowledge and see how the tea factory process is carried out. The process of obtaining tea powder, which we can easily make at home, is not very simple. It requires a huge process, and a large group of workers are behind it. Therefore, we must always work hard to give value to the cup of tea we drink.
Blue Field Tea Factory does not only source tea leaves from its own tea plantations. They also purchase tea leaves from nearby plantations. Accordingly, it is notable that the names of the tea leaves sourced from various plantations are mentioned inside this factory. You can see by now that the process of converting raw tea leaves into dry tea powder is a big one. To gain experience in this, you must definitely visit a tea estate and a tea factory.
Even though it is a tea factory located in Sri Lanka, the opportunity for Sri Lankans to get the most delicious tea is minimal. Especially since these are exported abroad, the best teas are obtained from foreign countries. However, Sri Lankans also have the opportunity to get this delicious tea powder at a high price. It is noteworthy that this Blue Field Tea Factory has provided an opportunity for Sri Lankan tourists to do so. The type of tea called black tea is a type of tea that is sold at a very high price. Their quality and standard are very high.
