Gratum Beach’s welcome was striking in my opinion as we entered the resort. The bold and unique bushy love Gratum sign augured quite a warm and sunny atmosphere for my visit. Decorated with well manicured and planted bushes and trees, this place definitely appreciates nature. It gave off a calm feeling and spirit and was a great juxtaposition to the busy city’s hustle and bustle.

To say that the beach was breathtaking would be an understatement. Tides that were warm and slightly rough glimmered and glistened in the sunlight. The waters gradually transitioned from a clear cerulean blue to a turquoise green which was simply beautiful. The beach was empty allowing visitors to completely unwind. As I took a stroll down the shore, a combination of the warm sand and cool seaside winds added to the experience.

The Simple Yet Eco Friendly Cottages

Gratum Beach resort boasts of its beautiful nipa and bamboo cottages, which I find quite unique. These types of cottages highly resonate with the Filipino culture and adds a touch of authenticity. I could enjoy myself inside the cottage that was enfolded with trees that provided ample shade. It was an amazing spot for munching, grabbing some snacks or even reading a book. If you will be staying overnight, make sure to arrive early so that you can claim the cottage that offers the best view.

Nature’s Paradise

The Gratum Beach Resort is a perfect place for a naturalist. Almost the entire area is filled with natural features ranging from tall trees to blooming flowers. There are pathways and stairs with simple but unique features such as flags and hanging decorations. It is more than just a resort because it is an excellent place for embracing nature. Make sure to have some time at the stairs facing the ocean because the sight is quite stunning.

The Gratum Beach water was warm and crystal clear on all occasions. Children and non-swimmers can enjoy it in some shallow areas where the depth is just right, while other sections are great for a cooling dip. Bring your equipment if you enjoy snorkeling and looking at the underwater world. Still water makes it an enjoyable exercise for both novices and seasoned swimmers.

If you want to take a break from the fast paced world, this is it. Being embraced by the sound of waves, feeling the cool ocean breeze with its stillness goes very well with relaxation.

Gratum Beach Resort is found at Sitio Sidakan Cove 1, Dapitan City in Mindanao. If you are coming from dipolog city, you can board the bus or a van whose final destination is Dapitan City. From that point, you can take a tricycle or a motorcycle to the resort. If you own a car, then simply follow the sign posts directing to Dapitan City and watch for Gratum Beach Resort sign. The people are more than hospitable so don’t fret to ask for directions.

My visit to Gratum Beach Resort was exciting. It is one of the rare places which combines fascinating nature and the simple things in this life. When if you happen to visit Dapitan City, then do not forget to put this calm paradise in your travel plans. You will not regret it!
