West Pak-pak is one of the regencies located in North Sumatra. West Pakpak Regency has a capital city which is in the District of Salak. The uniqueness of the Pak-Pak Barat district is that it is located right at the foot of the Bukit Barisan mountain range. Because it is located right at the foot of the mountain, the people in this district generally have a job in farming and gardening. Bukit Barisan is a series of 40 guns that have been officially recorded in the government. The Bukit Barisan Mountains stretch from the province of Southeast Aceh, namely Mount Bendahara, to the province of Lampung, namely Mount Tanggamus.
Because Pak-West is a Regency which is a cross road between Pak-pak West-Aceh border, Subusalam City to South Aceh, so many residents from Medan like us stopped for a moment at Pak-Pak Barat to take a break to relieve sleepiness, hunger and anxiety. thirsty and stretch the muscles that already feel stiff due to the 4 hour journey from Medan City to West Paks. The 4 hour trip that we went yesterday because we wanted to take a vacation to Tapak Tuan is a normal trip without traffic jams, but if you get stuck in traffic in the center of Medan City or Berastagi City. The distance can be even longer about 5 to 6 hours of travel.
Because the road in Pak – Pak west is a causeway and a border district before going to Aceh Province. and the location of this regency is right under the foot of the mountain so that when on the way to this city, we have to pass through cliffs and sharp turns that require our concentration, which is certainly very challenging for adrenaline, especially for two wheeled users like us. It takes extra care to pass this road in West Pakak to our destination, Kota Tapak Tuan.
And there are other advantages in West Pak City which is a causeway and is located at the foot of the mountain. The advantage is that the scenery in this city is very beautiful, when we pass through the cliffs, we can smell the strong aroma of leaves from the trees on the side of the road which is a stretch of forest. Then the air is very fresh without any air pollution, the smell of grass is very fresh, as well as rivers that have clear water under bridges or existing cliffs, as well as water flowing from the gaps of the existing mountain rocks. Everything really makes tiredness while on the journey treated.
And in Pak-West there is a stopover or Rest Area, for you to rest and stretch your stiff muscles. In this place we will find several stalls that have views overlooking the cliffs and expanses of plantations and rice fields owned by residents. The scenery is very beautiful, and clean as if this is a perfect painting carved by God for us to enjoy, not only we have to enjoy but we take care not to be polluted by the nosy and greedy hands of dominant humans just to take advantage and enrich yourself.
In these stalls, actually there are not many menus for sale, they only sell various types of instant noodles from cups to packages, various light snacks, milk chocolate sachets, hot chocolate, coffee to various teas to warm your body. due to wind entering the body. If you don't like or can't drink coffee, you can order a glass of hot chocolate, a plate of instant boiled noodles, or a glass of hot milk, even all these hot drinks can be said to be very hot, because the drinks we drink, even though half a cup is finished, the taste it's still very hot. However, even if you don't like coffee, there's nothing wrong with trying coffee in the western Pak-pak area even if it's only one spoonful, because the coffee here has a very thick taste and the aroma is very fragrant, because in western Pak-pak too surrounded by coffee plantations owned by residents, so the coffee they produce, on average, they grind themselves.
Moving from one stall to another, we found a menu that was not in the first stall, the menu was Lemang. Lemang is a type of food made from glutinous rice which is cooked in bamboo for up to 4 hours and mixed with coconut milk and a little salt, so the resulting taste is very tasty and fragrant. Lemang is also not expensive per stick of lemang is valued at Rp. 10,000, with a cheap price like that you can already pamper your stomach and try the new lemang taste which tastes a little different compared to other areas that I have tasted. In addition to the mixture of coconut milk and glutinous rice, the Lemang in the western pack makes my tongue taste very light coriander powder and other spices which, in my opinion, smells like ginger, but doesn't have the taste of ginger. Imagine how good it is. You can enjoy this lemang with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Enjoy.
And that was our exciting journey that we can tell you about. Greetings from us, Tomi and Maya from Binjai City, Indonesia. Happy and successful greetings to all of us. Keep supporting us and don't miss our next post. Enjoy and thank you for your support.
