The spring has come in Bulgaria and we enjoy the warm weather with a short day trip to a beautiful place near our city. We chose Dryanovo monastery, near the town of Dryanovo, which is about an hour and a half away. We chose this place, because it’s not that far away, at about 65 kilometers, and apart from the monastery there are nice paths in the mountains, leading to a cave.
We had a little accident on our way to the place, because there are a lot of turns on a twisty way through the mountain and as a result our big boy, which is two and a half years old felt dizzy and puked. The problem was that he was not able to tell us in advance, so we ended with a very “beautiful” peace of art all over his clothes and the child seat. 😁
Luckily, we had spare clothes and changed him so everything continued pretty normal, after the accident.
We had to carry around our little boy as he is not yet able to walk. Still, he was interested about the nature around him and looked around seemingly with a lot of joy.
The place we visited is very fresh because there is a lot of diversity in the nature. There are steep cliffs, a lot of trees and a river passing by, so the place will be very fresh in the summertime too. Now, although it was about 20-25 degrees, around the river it was a bit windy.
The monastery is small, but very picturesque. We have some bigger monasteries in Bulgaria, but they are a lot further away and we need a lot more time to travel. This one is ideal for a one day trip.
There are two restaurants at the place, but we brought some sandwiches with us. We plan on going again some time soon and have a lunch there. There was a very nice bbq aroma in the air and we were very close to having some meatballs. Well, next time maybe 😁
At some places upside the river there are some waterfalls and the water rumbles with a pretty big force. Our bigger boy enjoyed the views a lot and was very interested to pick various sticks, stones and leaves in the forest.
He also found a running drinkable water faucet. There is no better water than the mountain water, right?
Sadly, the day was over very soon and we had to go back to our home. But the best pet is that since it’s getting warmer, we will go around the mountains pretty soon again. We already have plans of visiting some other places.
So bye for now, until our next trip!
See you soon. 😉
