Hi, fellow Hivers! It's good to be back from a series of activities from last week. Today, I will bring you on a quick City tour in Zamboanga.
If you only have limited time in Zamboanga City, the best tour for you is the City Tour. One can hire a tricycle or van for the said purpose, good thing, we have friends in the city who offered us a free tour.
Our first stop was the Barter Trade Center. It is a place where you can buy imported goods from nearby countries like Malaysia, and Indonesia. Mostly, there are chocolates, coffee, candies, biscuits, and wafers. There are also the Malong, shawls, T-shirts, and dresses which are very colorful.
You must be good at haggling to get the best deal for the items you'll buy. We are happy with our Malong finds and some goods for pasalubong to our friends and family in going home.
Our next stop was in Fort Pilar. Near the entrance, there were many pigeons happily eating the bird food given by the children. I was so happy seeing them.
In front of Fort Pilar was the shrine of Lady of Pilar where devotees usually pray and lit a candle.
We took pictures and we happened to see a guy who drew the Shrine and we ask permission to take a picture of him while he was drawing.
We were not able to see the inside of Fort Pilar (which is now a museum) because it was close that time. We took pictures of the entrance instead.
Here is the history of Fort Pilar.
It was founded in 1635 and it amazingly preserved until now.
Our third destination is Paseo del Mar which is the baywalk of the City.
There were many people strolling around the place. There were children playing in the kid's place.
But what I love the most in the place was the ocean view.
It was so relaxing and the gentle breeze of the sea wind was so good.
I was hopeful to see a real vinta. But sad to say, it is not present in the place, nevertheless, I was able to take a picture of a decorative vinta sail just near the port of the baywalk.
There are many motor bancas here too.
The place also have many food stalls and stores. This painting in one of the food shops captured my interest.
This quick city tour in Zamboanga City enables me to have a glimpse of culture and history. The people there were preserving culture and history through time and you can really see it in the infrastructures and the way they handle visitors.
I am very happy to be able to see a few things in Zamboanga that makes my travel more worthwhile. I hope that you enjoy the virtual trip as much as I do.
Keep safe and see you in my next travel blogs.
