Yesterday I went for a walk with some friends through the streets of old Havana, we went out to clear a little and get out of the monotony, I tell you my experience. Old Havana is unique with its mix of history, culture and life. You always feel like you are transported to another era as you walk through its cobblestone streets and see the old colonial buildings and classic cars that seem to have been frozen in time. For the walk, we went to visit some of the most emblematic places, such as the Capitol, Parque de las Palomas, El Morro Cabaña, the Malecón and El Prado.
Walking through the streets of Old Havana is an experience in itself. The sounds of the street and the aromas of the street food make you feel as if you were in a completely different place.
The Capitol, an impressive neoclassical building, is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. It houses the Cuban Parliament and is impressive to see up close.
The Parque de las Palomas is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the sun. Known for its large number of pigeons, this park is an oasis of tranquility in the middle of the city. Walking through the park takes you to the top of a hill from which you can have a perfect view of the city. I sat on a bench and enjoyed the view as the pigeons flew around me.
Of Morro Cabaña it is little to say that it still stands as strong as when it was built in the 16th century to protect the bay of Havana. Today, it is a museum offering spectacular views of the city and the sea. It is an ideal place for a picnic or an afternoon stroll. I loved walking around its fortifications and as always, even though it is not the first time I visit the morro, I always end up imagining what life must have been like there so many years ago.
What I have to tell you about the Malecon is that it is one of the most popular tourist spots in Havana. The promenade is the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy the fresh sea air. I loved sitting on a bench and watching the people go by as the sun set over the sea.
What can I tell you about the Prado is a wide avenue that runs through the center of Havana. Known for its trees and fountains, it is an ideal place for an afternoon stroll. I was surprised to see how many people gathered there to enjoy the city's nightlife. Seeing people dancing to street music, enjoying an ice cream or just chatting with friends made me feel as if I was also part of them all and what they were doing.
Well on this day to clear that we left from 9:00am and I returned home at 11:00pm, walk the streets of my old Havana and visit all the places I could take pictures 😅. Sorry I wish I would have taken many more, but I got lost in the places and was just goofing off, and enjoying the place, so much so that I didn't even have time to take out my phone to take some extra pictures. Without much ado I tell you that the experience can not be described in words, much less in 500 photos 😅, you have to live it fully. Each place has its own personality and offers a unique view. If you have the opportunity to visit Havana, I highly recommend you do so.
I hope you enjoyed my experience in Old Havana. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this wonderful city, do not hesitate to do so. Undoubtedly, it is a place that will leave an indelible mark in your heart.
That's all for today, I thank you for reading this post and I hope you liked it, see you next time!
