Hello everyone in this community. I came back with the second post. In the first post, I wrote about the historic site of the Nguyen Dynasty and in this post, I would like to introduce a new place that also has historical beauty but belongs to Catholic. This site with named Thien An church.
This church is special in that it is built in the basement.
In terms of location, Thien An church was built on Thien An hill, surrounded by pine forest covering 4 sides.
This place is a Catholic place but also attracts a lot of tourists when coming to Hue, Thien An Hill is located quite far from Hue city and I can describe it as if we came from the plains to the mountains to enjoy the hidden life.
In Thien An, the air is fresh and quiet and that's why the monks chose this place as a place to stay for meditation and prayer.
Impressive from the outside looking in will be a 7-story tower with a church on the ground with the beauty of Asian architecture. But the place I want to introduce is not only this beautiful church that you can easily see, the church that I want you to know about is the old stone cellar church that few people know about.
The stone church in the basement with rudimentary architectural features was built with large but very solid and delicate stones. To visit this stone church needs the permission of the monks here. My impression when entering the stone church is a cold feeling. I think it's because, in the basement, the architecture here is quite simple but no less delicate. From the sanctuary to the kneeling tables, there are also paintings painted to illustrate the images of Catholicism. I was quite excited when I was able to walk through this church, it was like a maze, feeling scared but attracting curiosity.
Each religion will have its own architecture and beauty, but all will bring us a sense of peace when going there.
