Good morning, travelers!
Every year since November, Maracaibo dresses up for Christmas. Bella Vista Avenue is the perfect place to kick off the most beautiful time of the year. All the streets in this busy area of the city are filled with cheerful Christmas lights. In my family, it is a tradition to visit it before or after the Feria de la Chinita.
Our tour began on Avenida Milagro (north) towards downtown Maracaibo (south) and not as is commonly done, starting at the end of Avenida Bella Vista, as they say. My whole family got out of the car and walked through this area where we found the famous Plaza del Angel, which has a small fountain with a monument to Saint Michael the Archangel in the center. We took the opportunity to take some nice pictures.
In this square stands a huge metal structure that, with the Christmas lights, forms a ceiling that brings to life the Virgin of Chiquinquirá, the Marian devotion that is the patron saint of our state of Zulia. Many citizens come to this square to enjoy the Marabina nights and the magic of Christmas, and the children are seen running around, looking very happy.
We then left the square behind to continue our journey through Bella Vista by car. We weren't the only ones enjoying the Christmas lights; there were long lines of vehicles, but they moved along slowly. Every street had lights shaped into arches with stars, guajiro tapestries, and La Chinita, with strips of blue, gold, and red lights hanging down. My favorite was the corridor of shooting stars. I fell completely in love with them. Some streets were dark, probably due to the daily power cuts that occur in some areas.

¡Buenos días viajeros!
Cada año desde el mes de noviembre Maracaibo se viste de Navidad, la Avenida Bella Vista es el lugar perfecto para darle inicio a la época más bonita del año, se llenan todas sus calles de alegres luces navideñas esta zona que es muy concurrida en la ciudad, en mi familia es tradición visitarla antes o después de la Feria de la Chinita.
Nuestro recorrido inicio en sentido Avenida Milagro (norte) al Centro de Maracaibo (sur) y no como comúnmente se realiza, como quién dice empezamos por el final de la Avenida Bella Vista, bajamos del carro toda mi familia y caminamos por ésta área en donde nos encontramos con la famosa Plaza del Angel, la cuál posee una pequeña fuente con un monumento a San Miguel Arcángel en todo su centro, aprovechamos para tomarnos lindas fotografías.
En esta plaza se alza una enorme estructura metálica que con las luces navideñas forman un techo que le dan vida a la Virgen de Chiquinquirá la advocación mariana que es la Patrona de nuestro estado Zulia, muchos ciudadanos se acercan a esta plaza a disfrutar de las noches Marabinas y de la magia de la Navidad, a los niños se le ve muy felices y corriendo por allí.
Luego dejamos la plaza atrás para continuar nuestro paso por Bella Vista en vehículo, no éramos los únicos que estábamos disfrutando de las luces navideñas, habían largas filas de vehículos pero avanzaban con tranquilidad, cada calle tenía luces que le daban forma a arcos con estrellas, tapices guajiros y a la Chinita, tiras con luces azules, doradas y rojas colgando y mi favorito fue el pasillo de estrellas fugaces, me enamore por completo de ellas, unas calles estaban apagadas pues imagino que por los cortes eléctricos que se realizan en algunas zonas diariamente.
Espero que esta tradición nunca desaparezca y cada año pueda traer a mis niñas a disfrutar de como se viste Bella Vista en Navidad, esto también es parte de nuestro gentilicio y sentir Marabino, de esas cosas que nada puede igualar.
