The San Isidro Castle located near La Puerta, Trujillo, Venezuela, specifically on the road leading to La Lagunita is one of the places with the most incredible and beautiful views of the Andean mountains, without leaving aside that it is an architectural jewel and a luxury hotel for those who wish to spend a night in its facilities, although I have visited several times the road I was unaware of the existence of this castle.
Our adventure began when our guide told us that he would take us to the castle but we had to walk a little, the weather was quite nice and the journey was pleasant, so after a 30 minute walk and following the road we found the entrance on the right, with a sign indicating that we had arrived.
Our walk to get there was not over yet, we had to cross a road with several hectares arranged for planting some vegetables, the pines that were in it were well maintained and pruned, the aroma had me captivated, I confess that at this point I began to feel a little hot.
We were close to reach the castle and a striking wall covered with plants was part of the parking lot, some stairs made the entrance but before I stopped to appreciate the path that I had traveled, with the majestic green mountains in the background without a doubt a landscape that leaves me breathless.
Finally up the stairs we entered the courtyard of the Castillo San Isidro, its doors were opened in 1993 and since then it has served as a hotel for visitors to the area, its facade highlights its windows and wooden ceilings and tiles to protect the roof from the weather and rain, red bricks give a rounded shape to its arches.
Once inside the huge chandeliers and mirrors, colorful paintings, tables, antique furniture and stone fireplace are the protagonists, has large and cozy spaces, the cost of their rooms varies, but a room with double bed ranging to $ 50 per day something expensive for an average person in our country.
In the back garden a large play area for children with slides and swings that I found sensational not only for children but for adults as well, some animals were in cages including a scarlet macaw and a monkey, a disused fountain with a rock in the middle is also part of the area.
My favorite part was how imposing the castle looks outside and how the landscapes made me fall in love with its beauty, having this place among so much nature and sound of birds definitely disconnects us and recharges us with good energies, the ideal place to spend a full weekend although my travel group and I were just passing through.
I was just thinking about the road we had to travel to get back but as a traveler I remembered that to get to wonderful destinations and have a great travel experience you just have to be turtle and appreciate the road.

Nuestra aventura inició cuando nuestro guía nos dijó que nos llevaría al castillo pero debíamos caminar un poco, el clima era bastante agradable y se hizo ameno el trayecto, así que después de una caminata de 30 minutos y siguiendo la carretera nos encontramos a la derecha su entrada, con un letrero indicando que habíamos llegado.
Nuestra caminata para llegar aún no había terminado debíamos atravesar un camino con varias hectáreas dispuestas para la siembra de algunos vegetales, los pinos que se encontraban en él estaban bien cuidados y podados, el aroma me tenía cautivada, confieso que en este punto empecé a sentir un poco de calor.
Ya estábamos cerca de llegar al castillo y una llamativa pared cubierta de plantas era parte del estacionamiento, unas escaleras hacían la entrada pero antes me detuve a apreciar el camino de que había recorrido, con las majestuosas verdes montañas de fondo sin duda un paisaje que me deja sin aliento.
Finalmente al subir las escaleras hicimos entrada al patio del Castillo San Isidro, sus puertas fueron abiertas en el año 1993 y desde entonces funciona como hotel para quiénes visitan la zona, en su fachada resaltan sus ventanas y techos de madera y además de tejas para proteger el techo del clima y la lluvia, ladrillos rojos le aportan forma redondeada a sus arcos.
Una vez en su interior los enormes candelabros y espejos, coloridos cuadros, mesas, muebles antiguos y chimenea en piedra son los protagonistas, cuenta con amplios y acogedores espacios, el costo de sus habitaciones varía, pero una habitación con cama matrimonial oscilan a 50$ por día algo costoso para una persona promedio en nuestro país.
En el jardín trasero una amplia zona de juegos para niños con toboganes y columpios que me pareció sensacional no solo para niños sino para los adultos también, algunos animales se encontraban en jaulas entre ellos un guacamayo rojo y un mono, una fuente en desuso con una roca en medio también forma parte de área.
Mi parte favorita fue lo imponente que se ve el castillo en el exterior y como los paisajes me enamoraron con su belleza, tener este sitio entre tanta naturaleza y sonido de los pájaros definitivamente nos desconecta y recarga de buenas energías, el lugar ideal para pasar un fin de semana completo aunque mi grupo de viaje y yo solo estábamos de paso.
Solo pensaba en el camino que debíamos recorrer para regresar pero como viajera recordé que para llegar a destinos maravillosos y tener una gran experiencia de viaje solo hay que ser tortuga y apreciar el camino.
