Grato saludos tengan todos mis queridos amigos viajeros de todas partes del mundo, es un placer para mí saludarlos en este lindo miércoles ya ombligo de la semana, para seguirles mostrando un lugar con gran historia de nuestra ciudad de Maracaibo.
A warm greeting to all my dear travelling friends from all over the world; it is a pleasure for me to greet you on this lovely Wednesday, right in the middle of the week, to continue showing you a place steeped in history in our city of Maracaibo.
Justamente enfrente del centro comercial ciudad chinita en todo el casco central de Maracaibo, podemos encontrar el periódico de medio impreso más importante del occidente del país, como lo fue en su tiempo diario panorama, inaugurado justamente en el año 1914, que funciono de forma impresa, el periódico más importante de Venezuela durante muchos años se dedicó a vender de forma física cada una de las noticias importantes en el ámbito deportivo noticias, entre otros, pero fue justamente en el año 2018, cuando en la crisis fuerte económica que atravesó nuestro país Venezuela que decidieron debido a la escasez del papel paso únicamente a medio digital, incluso hasta la actualidad todavía funciona.
Right opposite the Ciudad Chinita shopping centre, in the heart of Maracaibo, we find the most important print newspaper in the west of the country just as Diario Panorama once was. Launched in 1914, it operated as a print publication and, for many years, was Venezuela’s leading newspaper, dedicated to publishing all the major news stories in print, including sports news, amongst others. However, it was in 2018, during the severe economic crisis that our country, Venezuela, was going through, that they decided, due to a shortage of paper, to switch exclusively to a digital format, and it continues to operate in this way to this day.
Podemos ver su enorme fachada en lugar completamente en perfecto estado muy bien cuidado en donde se imprimían, los distintos tipos de periódicos que esto rápidamente eran distribuidos por todo el occidente del país ya justamente a partir de las 7:00 de la mañana se encontraba distribuido por todas las ciudades más importantes del país, este periódico marcó de manera importante nuestra infancia y juventud, pues la información que daban era totalmente veraz. Simultáneamente contaban con ediciones informativas de revistas, como las facetas e incluso el famoso pitoquito, un periódico especial para los niños donde aparecía información general, y también servían para que los niños pudieran hacer las tareas del colegio, así como también un periódico qué permitía reciclar y ser de utilidad.
We can see its enormous façade, which is in perfect condition and very well maintained; it was here that the various types of newspapers were printed, which were then swiftly distributed throughout the western part of the country. By 7:00 am sharp, they had already been distributed to all the country’s major cities. This newspaper had a significant impact on our childhood and youth, as the information it provided was entirely accurate. At the same time, they published magazine editions, such as Las Facetas and even the famous Pitoquito, a special newspaper for children containing general information, which also helped children with their schoolwork, as well as a newspaper that could be recycled and put to good use.
La historia de panorama en inicia con la fundación justamente los creadores fueron el empresario Abraham y David Belloso Rossell, dura durante todo el siglo XXX, este periódico fue parte fundamental de la información en el Zulia, puesto que justamente fue creado en el momento del auge petrolero, ya que nuestra ciudad es muy alta en producción del petróleo dando mayor impulso. A toda la industria de petroleo mediante este periódico marcando así pauta, en una transición de gran importancia para la urbanidad de la ciudad de Maracaibo, sin duda alguna estas grandes letras que podemos ver en su fachada principal, son las letras centrales que se encontraban plasmada tal cual en la portada inicial del periódico.
The history of Panorama began with its founding by the entrepreneurs Abraham and David Belloso Rossell; it spanned the entire 20th century. This newspaper played a vital role in providing news in Zulia, as it was established at the height of the oil boom, a period when our city’s oil production was at its peak, giving the publication a significant boost. Through this newspaper, it set the tone for the entire oil industry, marking a transition of great importance for the urban development of the city of Maracaibo. Without a doubt, the large letters we can see on its main façade are the central letters that appeared exactly as they are on the newspaper’s original front page.
Inicialmente durante sus primeros años de fundación estos operaban en la plaza Baralt hasta mudarse a la sede en la que se encuentran actualmente, en la actualidad del periódico solamente funciona 100% digitalmente, pero sus instalaciones se conservan totalmente intactas siendo bastantes amplias ubicando una manzana completa y podemos ver que se encuentran totalmente un estado perfecto, justamente el 14 de mayo del 2019, fue la última vez en la que pudimos ver todos los lectores y fanáticos de este prestigioso periódico impreso, su última edición física e imprenta que marcó a todo el occidente venezolano, pues desde ese entonces, el periódico no volvió a circular más de manera física.
Initially, during its early years, the newspaper operated from Plaza Baralt before moving to its current premises; today, the newspaper operates entirely online, but its premises remain completely intact and are quite spacious, covering an entire block, and we can see that they are in perfect condition. It was precisely on 14 May 2019 that readers and fans of this prestigious print newspaper were last able to see its final physical edition and print run, which left its mark on the whole of western Venezuela, as since then, the newspaper has not been published in print form again.
Por último como dato curioso de este famoso periódico es que en su momento inicial tenían una máquina para imprimir el periódico que esta funcionaba netamente con vapor, este periódico tuvo papel protagónico en la promoción de acontecimientos importantes como la creación del primer hospital tubérculoso de Maracaibo, así como también la era del inicio del petróleo en su máximo punto muchas gracias amigos viajeros por conocer conmigo este lugar importante de mi ciudad, me despido hasta pronto.
Finally, an interesting fact about this famous newspaper is that, in its early days, it had a printing press that ran entirely on steam. The newspaper played a leading role in publicising important events such as the establishment of Maracaibo’s first tuberculosis hospital, as well as the peak of the early oil industry.
