Today the weather wasn't the best, as it often is lately, but my husband and I took advantage of it to go for one of our walks in the countryside. We both love woods and nature. Today we headed towards Fabbiana, a truly tiny village consisting of a few houses and a small, abandoned church, surrounded by woods. Fabbiana also has many small hamlets, scattered even deeper into the woods and accessible only by dirt roads.
It's not a particularly welcoming place to live, but it's a lovely place for walking and enjoying nature. Fabbiana is located in the hills and is a popular spot for hikers in the summer and mushroom hunters in the fall. It's said to be excellent mushroom growing ground. The inhabitants here are so few, and most are members of the same family, that they have bought houses in this village, creating a small community. It's a quiet, secluded place, cooler than the city, silent and relaxing. A place where tranquility reigns and there are more trees and deer than people. There are no shops or bars in the area, so if you need anything you have to drive into town because there are no buses or trains.

This area is mostly wooded, and there are several forest trails connecting Fabbiana to various hilltop villages, but you need to be a good trekking expert. We walked along the section of the road that's still paved, though it wasn't easy because it was very windy today, and my photos were affected as well. However, it's beautiful to see the wooded views and the rolling hills. The trees here are still green and not very autumnal, perhaps because we're in the lower hills and the temperatures are milder, but trees are everywhere; it's truly a small place surrounded by greenery.
The tree-lined roads are truly pleasant, and you can walk here in peace because the only cars passing are those of the residents, people who still say hello if they encounter a stranger. Here too, there are various types of trees, such as chestnut and beech trees, and the occasional maple. We noticed that the woods are clean, as are the roads, and the vegetation is lush; you can see that the residents care about their small territory. It's a place I'd like to return to for a walk, perhaps trying some simple trails when the weather is better. I think there are some magnificent woods to visit, and I love walking in the woods!
Esta zona es mayormente boscosa, y hay varias rutas de senderismo que conectan Fabbiana con diversos pueblos en la cima de las colinas, pero se requiere experiencia en senderismo.
