Good morning, blog friends, how are you? Sorry for my absence these days, but we took advantage of this weekend to take a short trip to the Pistoia Apennines. We went to a small village called Torri, where my mother-in-law has a second home, and we used it as a base.
Torri is a very small village in the winter, inhabited by about a hundred people, but quite popular in the summer because it's a cool place, close to many beautiful spots in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, Lake Suviana, and various hiking spots. Torri is part of the municipality of Sambuca, a neighboring municipality between Tuscany and Emilia, and indeed, the dialect of the inhabitants of Torri is more Emilian than Tuscan. As soon as we arrived, we were immediately struck by the large rock formations looming over the town square. Torri is nestled between the rocks and the woods, surrounded by high mountains. It's the perfect place for lovers of small villages and nature; we loved it from the first moment we arrived. Torri is also a very ancient village, built before the Middle Ages, and for years it was a place of passage but also of rest and tranquility.

Torri is also located near the Limentra stream. It is said to have been a military outpost, hence its name, "towers." Upon arrival, in addition to admiring the rocks, we visited a small but beautiful sculpture museum housing colorful and beautiful works by local and foreign sculptors who have stayed in Torri. This small village is very popular with tourists, especially Germans and Dutch. The museum is small but truly fascinating. It features wooden sculptures with almost childlike features, religious and philosophical paintings, busts and various heads, and other larger sculptures that add a magical touch to this small museum, located in a small hut near the rocks. Even the museum's exterior walls are lined with small sculptures, a true gem for art and sculpture lovers. Afterwards, we continued our tour to other parts of the village and the church, which I will discuss in a future post because there is so much to say and I don't want to risk being too long-winded.
