It is the rainy season in Japan now. I checked the weather forecast this week. OMG! It showed rain and thunder marks every day. I didn't think I'd be able to go out. But the rain stopped in the afternoon, so I immediately decided to go somewhere. Where should I go, Nara or Kyoto? I decided to visit Hasedera Temple in Nara. From my place, it's about 90 minutes on the train.
How To Get To Hasedara Temple
Take the JR line to Tsuruhashi station and change to the Kintetsu line to Hasedera station and then about 15 minutes on foot.
Walking from the station to the temple, you will see small cafes, traditional restaurants, and antique Japanese sweet shops on the way. This area is quiet and surrounded by mountains. It was cloudy today but also hot and humid.
Hasedera Temple
Hasedera temple is located in Sakurai, Nara. It is called Temple of The Flower because there are various of kinds flowers that bloom throughout the year. In order to reach the main temple, you need to climb up the stairs. When you pass through the gate, you will see a roofed corridor called Noboriro which means “ascending corridor”. The corridor is divided into 3 sections (upper, middle, and lower), and there are in total 399 steps to the main temple hall.
The main hall is built on a cliff and the balcony was built using the same construction method as Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. You will see a wonderful view from the front of the main hall area.
I strolled around the temple. Now is the best time to see hydrangea. There are various colors of hydrangea flowers blooming. These are some photos of flowers that I would like to share with you. Hydrangea flowers can be seen until the middle of July.
The entrance fee is 500 yen for junior high school and older.
