Hello friends! Today we are going to Flekkefjord. This is a small town with about 10.000 people, not far from Kvinesdal. It only took one bus and 30 minutes to get to this town. When we can't decide "where to go", we always head to Flekkefjord. It is always beautiful here and you can find many interesting things. Like today. We are sure you will love it, so if you're ready let's start our city tour!
This city is very colorful - you can find many museums, cafes, restaurants, shops and interesting places to walk. But my favorite place among the places in Flekkefjord is the seaside. It is extremely beautiful here at any time of the year. Every time we come to this city, we go to the seaside, where ducks and a family of swans live. Interestingly, these birds are not afraid of people at all, on the contrary, they always come up to you and want food from you. There are also a lot of boats, yachts and motor boats here - this is one of the modes of transportation in Norway. Norwegians especially like to use them for local travel. I also want to give you an interesting fact about these swans, whenever we come to Flekkefjord and stop here, all 5 of these swans are always here and have been here for years.
The city center is very alive and colorful. There are cafes, shops and lots of people. If you walk around the streets you can see some very attractive houses. The locals like to decorate their windshields with various flowers and miniature decorations and I like to look at this beauty and get inspired.
There is also a church in the center of the city and next to it are all the important monuments and statues. Opposite the church there is also a small stage where various music concerts and performances take place. This is especially popular in the summer season.
Somewhere in the streets there is an impressive and very attractive hotel in the shape of a tower as you see on the photo. To be honest, I think the location of this hotel is not very good, because it is not on the main street or even in the city center. But I am sure that everybody in the city knows about this hotel because it is very different from the typical modern hotels.
In this photo you can see a real Norwegian autumn. Yellow, orange, red, green - all these colors mix together and create incredible landscapes. And these little white houses are like sprinkled beads.
Among the many shops we also found a very interesting place - a kind of autumn composition that people decided to set up next to a tree, but it definitely brings coziness and autumn feeling to the city. It seemed to be just an old painted bicycle and some decor, but little things like that show the interest of the locals in creating a beautiful environment. It would also be a good autumn place to take photos, and that's what I did.
You can also see other photos we took while traveling around the city in this section.
A distant view of Flekkefjord harbor where ducks and swans stay.
The view to our left as we continue walking along the seaside... Scary and beauty
I really like this building which well-combined to autumn season about colors, I don't know what it is, it looks like a hotel but I'm not sure, what do you think?
Monuments in the churchyard in the city center
When we came back to the harbor, we noticed the sculptures all around the harbor and understood that Flekkefjord is a city that really cares about art. We saw so many street art, sculptures and monuments during our trip that our friend had a request from us, we will prepare another great content where we will only cover street art, thank you for the inspiration.
At the end of our trip we decided to eat something and went to a food truck. This food truck serves the most delicious sushi I have ever had in Norway. I believe that the price and quality are balanced here and every time we come to Flekkefjord we end our trip at this truck.
It's also right next to the bus station and this is a special place. The surroundings are as you can see in the photos and there is an old railway that is no longer in use. At the end of the 1800s it was used for transportation to Egersund and Stavanger, but 7 years later it was closed because it was no longer needed due to an alternative route and it became one of the most fun places in Flekkefjord. Here people can take a 17 km long city tour on a special bicycle and it's a great activity to enjoy the view, we haven't done this activity yet, it's only available in the summer and hopefully we will do it next summer if we can be still here...
This is how our little trip to Flekkefjord ended. I hope you enjoyed it! Leave your impressions in the comments, I will definitely read and answer them all! I wish you all a good trip and a good mood. See you soon, friends! Goodbye!
