Cenote Ik Kil - cenote outside Pisté, in the little Tinúm Municipality, in Yucatán, Mexico.
Do you like white sand beaches or part of history? Mexico has it all, so it can satisfy everyone’s taste. In addition to the beautiful white sandy beaches and the sea that Mexico offers, it also has a lot of groundwater that makes the city sink, and sinks up to 20 cm per year.
Mexican rainforests that are very large but also protected, there is a species of jaguar that lives there and is protected. If you are interested in adventures and a part of history, I will take you on a tour of an interesting part of the past that the Mayan people left behind.
Because I mentioned in the title that it is a jungle, the scene that surrounds it reminds me of a jungle. And in the center of this jungle, there is a place that does not have a white sandy beach and a lot of sun, but it is special because of the nature that surrounds it with its distinct blue color and its historical past.
This interesting beach is located in a cave, which means some groundwater, with a water level about 25 to 26 meters below ground level. With an opening overlooking the blue sky, surrounded by greenery and some interesting type of plant that descends from a height to the water that is in the cavity. In addition to the plants that descend into the water, there are also small waterfalls that flow into the cavity.
A plant like a tiger, it was very interesting to me because its bark is black and white, and a special flower like a cactus seems to grow on it. These plants love water and do not have enough soil but seem to grow from the surrounding rocks. It seems to sink its roots all the way down into the water.
There are steps to descend in the cave to the place of bathing. the diameter of the bathing area is about 60 meters, and the depth is about 40 meters.
Since the water is so clear, clean and almost icy, it is a very interesting place for swimming and cooling in these tropical heats and forests.
Tourists use the surrounding stairs to jump into the water, and some, who are bolder, even jump all the way from the upper rocks, which is quite high, and it is not for everyone, except for professionals in swimming and jumping from great heights in the water.
Personally, I shouldn't even jump off from those steps, because I'm not a swimmer. I love water, but not to jump into it, but just to relax and enjoy a light swim.
As I was walking I noticed more interesting things like a stone with the inscription red bull on it. Which caught my attention because what has the red bull got to do with the beach?
Here is the answer to the question of what this beach has to do with red bull, an advertisement for red bull was filmed here. That is how a stone with an inscription in memory was placed.
An impressive tree with an interesting root that is probably very old, located next to a small house, is probably inhabited by someone who maintains cenotes.
LEGEND SAYS:
Cenote Ik Kiel was a sacred place for the Maya, who used it for relaxation and for various rituals.
Canote is located near the former (today's ruins) city of Maya Uchichen Itzi. Today it is a visited place, the beach is open and tourists who like the intertwining of past and present are happy to visit it.
