The highest point of my city, which is also a symbol of the city of Vrsac, is a tower from the 15th century.
Indeed, it is an unavoidable point of every citizen who wants to spend time in nature and clean air.
This tower was the target of conquest or destruction during the 16th and 18th centuries, but various works and renovations were carried out in the late 20th century and early 21st century, so parts of the tower were renovated and added to retain its original appearance.
Arriving on foot uphill, we first visited the Red Cross Home, which is surrounded by a restaurant, a small zoo and a playground for children, which my son was very happy about.
In this small fenced zoo, you can see small horses, ponies, geese, ducks or turkeys, mostly domestic animals.
In one corner like a monument, probably to some past times that befell this small country that was under frequent attacks by the enemy, today stands a tank painted with cheerful colors.
In the other corner is a figure of a cow.
And there is also an unavoidable playground, which is an unavoidable point for every child, so we rested a bit while the children enjoyed the game, before walking to the tower.
Finally we came to the elevated point where the tower is located in the photo you can see the map of the tower.
It has the shape of an almond, a beautiful old building built of stone.
At an altitude of 399 m in the Vršac Mountains above the town itself, there is a tower, which is today a symbol of the town and testifies to the past of an ancient history.
This tower was founded by Đurad Smederevac, after the fall of Smederevo, his goal was to protect his property which is today on the territory of today's Vojvodina.
The best preserved part of this tower is the dungeon tower, which reaches a height of 20 m.
Right next to the dungeon tower, there is a circular place that once served as a cistern, in the extension are the walls of the palace, which even today seem to show the imprint where the door used to be.
The walls surrounding the tower are also made of stone poured into mortar, so it looks like a mosaic.
A semicircular tower on the outside, and on the inside you can see the rest of the kiln, which is made of stone and which was once used.
From all sides there is a beautiful view of the city and its surroundings.
There is no set time to visit this attraction of the city, or a nearby site, for us as citizens it is the most beautiful afternoon walk that allows a walk through the woods and fresh air to the tower. For mountaineers, this point is often a rest and climbing the Vršac mountains.
The Vršac mountains still offer a lot of lookouts and beautiful trails with rich vegetation, one afternoon is not enough to visit or see everything, because they really offer much more.
