Hello, and welcome to my blog 🙂
Now, visiting the capital without riding the cable car overlooking the Tagus would not be a complete visit. We are a country planted by the sea, but Lisbon is bathed by the river and not by the sea. There is a lot to see here and we have been getting to know this city little by little. I confess that my heart belongs to Porto for all reasons and more, from the gastronomy, to the welcoming of the people, to the history of the city and because I'm from there.
The capital is a very busy city and we were extremely happy that we didn't take a car. We had already been here on a quicker visit by car and I can say that it took us more than an hour to be able to stop the car.
Today we show what is considered the best parish in Lisbon, Parque das Nações. Here you can find a little bit of everything to do, from visiting the Oceanarium, the Pavilion of Portugal and Knowledge, pieces of urban art, cable cars or cable cars and much, much more.
One of the places that we saw in the distance but that we would definitely like to have visited is the Vasco da Gama Tower, which is 145 meters high (the highest in the country) and was built to serve as a viewpoint and which now has a 5-star hotel. Myriad by Sana.
These attractions that I'm talking about here were all built for Expo 98 or the 1998 Lisbon International Exhibition to celebrate the milestone of the Five Hundred Years of Discoveries and were open to the public for three months. It received a total of 11 million visitors, but the expectation was 15 million.
What is certain is that the redevelopment has made this space the best place to live in Lisbon and is full of a little bit of everything.
We then went to ride the cable car. As I already told you here, heights are not my strong point but I could refuse. The view is stunning and if we're lucky we might even see Dolphins. Many people take advantage of this route next to the river for running and walking.
After riding the cable car we heard the usual phrase: "I'm hungry". We stopped at Jardim das Ondas, which is eight thousand square meters but was still built with social distancing in mind so that everyone can be there and have their "space", and this was possible because they drew several circles on the lawn.
Continuing our journey we pass water volcanoes of various colors and sizes that in summer delight the little ones who run to escape the water.
I hope you enjoyed a little more of our story. I'm happy to be able to show here what's so great about my country, which above all we know how to welcome, even in the midst of so many difficulties.
See you around.
I hope you enjoyed! Be happy 😊
Wishing you much peace and health
