Hello all
How is everyone?
I present to you Mirandela, a place that I visited during a work trip and where I had to stop for the night, "one of these days I'll tell you a little more about my work and why it forces me to travel several kilometers during the day".
I woke up to a pleasant, sunny day, although the biting cold made it clear that I was in the heart of the Trás-os-Montes region. The city, known affectionately as the "Garden City", revealed itself to be a treasure trove of charms from the first moment, although it was a very brief visit right after having breakfast and moments before heading towards the final destination.
Since I was there, I decided to pass by one of the most iconic points in the city, the Old Bridge that crosses the majestic Tua River. This centuries-old structure, made of robust stone and rounded arches, seems frozen in time, a witness to local history. As we cross it, we are enveloped by the peaceful and picturesque atmosphere that characterizes this beautiful city.
I didn't have the opportunity to take photos in the historic center as I spent the night the day before and was driving, but I can give a brief description of what I saw and I promise that one day later I will write a more detailed article where I will include the photos for you that can delight in the beautiful architecture, with its cobblestone streets, traditional granite houses and flower-filled balconies, with a strong presence of local and traditional commerce where we can find and buy the best products in the region, including the famous sausages and aromatic olive oils.
By the time I arrived at night, I didn't even have time to go to dinner at one of those typical taverns and I had to settle for a hasty dinner at the hotel where I ended up spending the night. In the morning there was only time for breakfast, but the visit to the tavern to taste a typical dish from the region will definitely be left for the next visit, which I hope will be for leisure :)
When we walk along the river, something that doesn't go unnoticed are the lush gardens full of flowers of the most varied colors and immense tall trees providing pleasant shade.
Next door, always accompanying the tour, we have the Tua River, with its clear and serene waters reflecting the blue sky like a tranquil mirror of water.
It is always possible to see someone enjoying nature by the river, absorbing and appreciating the stillness of this place, maintaining a relaxed and relaxed pace.
Mirandela also stands out for the various cultural events that take place there and for the unity of its community in valuing its roots and preserving its cultural heritage.
In the distance, on the other side of the river next to the main square, they set up a small craft market where we could find different unique handmade products.
Unfortunately the time came and I had to leave, but on my way home I had the opportunity to pass through Mirandela again in time to record the sunset over the Tua River, with those warm colors reflecting on the calm waters, an unforgettable visual spectacle. .
It was a visit that left a mark, driven by the natural beauty and authenticity of this Portuguese city.
Of course I will have to go back there.
