Each one of us finds in this world places that we fall in love with, where we find a lot of peace and inner balance. Those places we so often need to visit again.
Peninsula Valdes is my place, where I vibrate in another tune, where the cold wind that goes through any kind of coat with which we can dress is not an obstacle. The beautiful sensations that the majesty of the landscape and the environment gives us provokes a warmth that helps to withstand the cold winds that come from Antarctica.
Cada uno de nosotros encuentra en este mundo lugares que nos enamoran, donde encontramos mucha paz y equilibrio interior. Esos sitios a los cuales tantas veces necesitamos volver a visitar.
Península Valdés es mi lugar, donde vibro en otra sintonía, donde el viento frío que traspasa cualquier tipo de abrigo con el que podamos vestirnos no es obstáculo. Las lindas sensaciones que la majestuosidad del paisaje y el entorno nos regala provoca un calorcito que ayuda a soportar los fríos vientos que llegan de la Antártida.
Around the beginning of May, the "Southern Right Whale" from South Africa begins to arrive to the coasts of Golfo Nuevo and Golfo San Jorge to give birth and also to mate, taking advantage of the deep and calm waters of the gulfs that surround Peninsula Valdés, for which in 1999 it was declared Natural Patrimony of Humanity, creating the most important whale sanctuary in the world.
A few kilometers from the city of Puerto Madryn, on the way to the peninsula, are the beaches of Doradillo, where cliffs and other flat coasts are interspersed product of the irregularities of the continental relief. These beaches besides being very beautiful have a special magic, where you can appreciate beautiful spectacles of nature where the protagonists are the giants of the ocean, the whales.
Sobre principios del mes de mayo comienzan a llegar a las costas del Golfo Nuevo y del Golfo San Jorge la "Ballena Franca Austral" procedentes de Sudáfrica a parir y también a aparearse, aprovechando las profundas y tranquilas aguas de los golfos que rodean a Peninsula Valdés, por lo que en el año 1999 fue declarada como Patrimonio Natural de la Humanidad, creando el santuario ballenero más importante del mundo.
A pocos kilómetros de la ciudad de Puerto Madryn, saliendo camino a la península, están las playas del Doradillo, donde se intercalan costas de acantilados y otras planas producto de las irregularidades del relieve continental. Estas playas además de ser muy lindas tienen una magia especial, donde se pueden apreciar hermoso espectáculos de la naturaleza donde las protagonistas son los gigantes del océano, las ballenas.
Sitting on the shore and just a few meters away we can observe a great variety of behaviors where the mothers have a very hard task taking care of the young newborn calves that due to their lack of experience sometimes get too close to the shore running the risk of being stranded especially when the tide is going out. For this reason the parents always follow them closely in a protective attitude.
Sometimes we can see whales jumping close to the shore which is impressive. Seeing these large animals come out of the water is impressive. Let's not lose sight of the fact that they can reach almost 20 meters long and weigh several tons.
They can also be seen with their tails held high, as if they were the sail of a sailboat, or hitting the water hard with their tails. All these behaviors have a different meaning and intentionality.
Sentados en la costa y a muy pocos metros podemos observar gran variedad de comportamientos donde las madres tienen una muy ardua tarea cuidando a los jóvenes ballenatos recién nacidos que por su falta de experiencia en ocasiones se aproximan demasiado a la costa corriendo peligro de quedar varados especialmente cuando la marea está bajando. Por ello los padres siempre los siguen bien de cerca en una actitud de protección.
En ocasiones podemos ver saltar a las ballenas cerca de la costa lo cual es impresionante. Ver salir del agua a estos animales tan grandes es impresionante. No perdamos de vista que pueden llegar a medir casi 20 metros de largo y pesar varias toneladas.
También se las puede ver con su cola en alto, como si fuera la vela de un velero, o golpeando el agua con fuerza con su cola. Todos esos comportamientos tiene un significado y una intencionalidad diferente.
On the beach La Cantera are the park rangers who are arranged in a comfortable hut overlooking the sea and supervise that the activities of tourists do not interfere with the behavior of the whales and supervise that they do not leave waste on the coast. They do a great task of awareness to try to maintain unalterable, promoting respect for the environment.
Believe it or not, there are many people who leave their garbage everywhere, which is extremely harmful to the great diversity of native fauna. Occasionally tourists have also been detected entering in kayaks to interact with the whales, which is prohibited not only to avoid disturbing the giant marine mammals, but also for the safety of the tourists themselves.
Sobre la playa La Cantera se encuentran los guardaparques quienes dispuestos en una confortable casilla con vista al mar supervisan que las actividades de los turistas no interfiera en el comportamiento de las ballenas y supervisan que no dejen residuos sobre la costa. Hacen una gran tarea de concientización para intentar mantener inalterable, promoviendo el respeto por el medio ambiente.
Aunque parezca mentira son muchas las personas que dejan sus residuos tirados en cualquier lado, lo cual es sumamente nocivo para la gran diversidad de fauna autóctona. En ocasiones también se detecto a turistas entrando en kayak para interactuar con las ballenas, lo cual está prohibido no solo para no alterar a los gigantes mamíferos marinos, sino también por una cuestión de seguridad de los propios turistas.
The varied and wide beaches that surround Península Valdés and all the beauty it offers us are a beautiful place and provide a great opportunity to live nice adventures with the family and build wonderful moments that our children will never forget.
In life we must give ourselves the opportunity to plan trips that allow us to discover the world, enjoy life and above all to not be left with unfinished business when the strength and desire are no longer with us.
